JD CYMRU NORTH: Victories for Airbus, Mold, Holyhead Hotspur and Penrhyncoch

JD CYMRU NORTH – REPORTS FOR SATURDAY MARCH 7

Caersws 1 Airbus UK Broughton 2
Eleven straight wins for a Wingmakers side which moved closer to securing a berth in that all-important top three on Saturday.
Second-place Airbus earned a hard-fought 2-1 win away to Caersws.
Jake Roberts gave the visitors the lead in style with 16 minutes on the clock as the forward met Tyler McManus’ cross and sent a clinical lob over Max Williams from the edge of the area.
However, Caersws were level 10 minutes before half-time as Airbus goalkeeper Sam Fenney spilled Ashley Harries’ cross, allowing Tom Edwards to tap home the loose ball.
Airbus nearly restored their lead in first half stoppage time, but Williams tipped Jordan Evans’ free-kick onto the crossbar.
Mark Allen’s men did eventually edge back in front in the 65th minute though, as Evans’ corner bounced perfectly for CN joint top-scorer George Peers, who nodded home his 20th league goal of 2025-26.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time when Caersws forward Max McLaughin was sent off for a foul on Mason Blackwell-Jones before Airbus defender Sam Rickett was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident.
Buckley Town 0 Penrhyncoch 2
Revitalised Penrhyncoch moved three points clear of the relegation spot with a 2-0 victory over Buckley Town at The Globe on Saturday.
The Roosters took the lead six minutes before half-time as Geoff Kellaway set up John James for his third goal of the season. Kellaway then converted from the penalty spot in the 65th minute to double the advantage – his third goal in four games – and seal a first away win in 2026 for Gari Lewis’ side.
Holyhead Hotspur 1 Guilsfield 0

Cory Williams’ sixth league goal of the season was enough to earn Hotspur a fine home win over sixth-place Guilsfield at The New Stadium.
The winning goal arrived in the 35th minute when the Guils failed to clear a corner, allowing Williams to react quickest and fire into the net.

Darren Garmey’s side have now won six of their last eight league games, only losing to leading pair Airbus and Llandudno.
Mold Alexandra 1 Ruthin Town 0
Mold claimed back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 1-0 triumph over bottom-of-the-table Ruthin Town at Alyn Park.
It looked for a long time that the match would finish goalless, but Morgan Roberts found the breakthrough for Alex on 85 minutes by heading home from Craig Rogers’ cross.
Barry Owen’s side are now up to 11th in the table and sit a healthy nine points clear of the relegation zone.
FRIDAY, MARCH 6 (covered on the night by Grassroots North Wales)
Newtown 0 Gresford Athletic 5
Gresford produced the performance of the night as they sent Newtown crashing to their heaviest home defeat since a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of The New Saints in September 2024.
Dave Evans’ side made it four wins in five league matches to edge up to ninth in the JD Cymru North.
The Colliers struck twice in the first half, Toby Gallagher-Keenan finding the net on 20 minutes before the in-form Haci Ozlu made it two after 43 with his 12th goal of the campaign.
Ozlu turned provider six minutes into the second half when he set up Tom Smith for number three.
Recent signing Sam Baker added to Athletic’s total on the hour, Gallagher-Keenan the assistant, and Billy Nicholas completed the rout after 82.
Denbigh Town 0 Brickfield Rangers 1
Jay Richardson’s 90th minute decider clinched Brickfield a third win in a row, but for Denbigh, Friday night delivered a fifth defeat in succession.
Town remain seventh in the table, with Rangers now just a place below and two points behind.
Llandudno 2 Holywell Town 1
Mark Cadwallader’s 18th and 19th goals of the season banked three huge points for leaders Llandudno at the Go Goodwins Stadium.
The Seasiders pushed eight points clear at the summit and are now assured of the top three place needed to seal promotion to the Cymru Premier – provided they secure the Tier 1 licence.
Holywell remain third but are still a good bet to finish in the leading trio.
Cadwallader nudged Tudno in front on 26 minutes and added a second via a Callum Stephens assist on 82.
Jamie Breese replied for the Wellmen after 86, but Llandudno held on to make it 13 games, 13 wins in the league at the Go Goodwins this term.
