FAW YOUTH CUP SEMI-FINAL – MARCH 1, 2026

Barry Town United Development 1 (Bourner 82)
Caernarfon Town Development 3 (Griffith 24, 29, Ellis 90+3)

Caernarfon Town will take on The New Saints in the final of the 2025-26 FAW Youth Cup.

Both sides won their respective semi-finals 3-1 today.

For Caernarfon, it will be back-to-back finals having made the showpiece game last season as well only to lose out to Haverfordwest County.

Darren Mawson’s side now have another chance to become only the second North Wales team in history to lift the national youth cup.

Wrexham are the sole northern winners of the competition previously, landing the trophy in 1991. 1992. 1994 and 1996.

Today’s semi at Cardiff International Sports Stadium saw the Canaries strike twice in a five-minute spell during the first half.

Charlie Griffith broke the deadlock on 24 minutes from an Osian Ellis assist.

And with 29 on the clock Griffith netted again to give the North Walians a commanding half time lead.

Griffith, 17, has notched 21 goals in 22 matches for the Caernarfon Town Development side this season and featured three times as a substitute for the first team – all against TNS.

The score remained 2-0 until the 82nd minute when Barry sub Joseff Bourner caused a few flutters in Cofi hearts by halving the deficit.

However, Caernarfon were not to be denied and three minutes into stoppage time Osian Ellis made it 3-1.

Ellis, 18, is a regular first team squad member who has played a part in 16 matches for Richard Davies’ side this season, chiefly making brief appearances as a substitute.

Da iawn Caernarfon Town – the pride of North Wales once more!
