Llangefni made it a perfect 10 in the league this season despite coming up against one of the finest goalkeeping displays they have probably ever encountered.

Caernarfon stopper Elena Julio not only produced a magnificent penalty save, she also came up with a number of other tremendous blocks which prevented the visitors suffering a much heavier loss.

One of the finest goalkeepers to feature in North Wales women’s football, the 35-year-old Julio is back with Caernarfon this season after a spell at Pwllheli.

Over the years, the great gloveswoman has won numerous honours with the Cofis, including representing them in the Welsh Premier League.

On Sunday at Cae Bob Parry, she was simply outstanding.

Julio’s heroics began in the first half, when she denied Cerys Gadd from the penalty spot with a stupendous save.

Not long after, she concocted an even better stop and it was of some relief to Llangefni when they grabbed a 43rd minute lead.

Amber Brown crossed from the right and Eleanor Coulson headed into the bottom left corner for her eighth goal this season.

Cefni’s third highest-scorer of all time, it was Coulson’s 60th goal in 104 appearances for the all-blues.

More Julio heroics made sure there was not a second home goal until the 71st minute, Marissa George’s strike coming down off the crossbar before Lowri Thomas tapped in the rebound.

For Llangefni, it is now 10 league wins out of 10. They are level on points with Kinmel Bay, who lead the table on goal difference, but Cefni have played a game less.
