Club stalwarts Huw Davies and Phil Thomas will leave CPD Mynydd Llandegai at end of season

Huw Davies

CPD Mynydd Llandegai have announced first team manager Huw Davies will be stepping down at the end of this season.

Davies has dedicated more than 20 years to the club, during which he has served as a player, manager and also chairman.

Known as ‘Huw Dulyn’, he first took over as Llandegai first-team boss in March 2017 when Mark Hughes stepped down. Davies remained in charge until 2022, when Iwan ‘Pij’ Morris replaced him, but ‘Dulyn’ later returned to Penrhiw.

Davies led Llandegai to runners-up spot in Welsh Alliance Division Two in 2016-17 and the club was promoted to Tier 3 Division One the following season, finishing 10th.

The club held its own in the Welsh Alliance top flight, but unfortunately were relegated back to Tier 4 when Welsh football was restructured in 2021-22 and their ground did not meet new T3 criteria.

Paying tribute to Davies, a club statement said: “Huw’s contribution to CPD Mynydd Llandegai has been invaluable, and his commitment, leadership, and love for the club have left a lasting mark.
