At last! A bit of FAW consideration for North Wales

At last! A bit of balance!

For once. northern needs are taken into account for the staging of this year’s Genero Adran Trophy Final between Wrexham and Cardiff City.

While South Wales has been the overwhelming choice for most national cup finals in recent times, the Adran Trophy showpiece game will take place at Bangor City Stadium.

For a change, Cardiff City will be taken out of their comfort zone.

Of course, Cardiff are a very good team and may win the trophy anyway, but it is nice just for once that Wrexham and their fans do not have so far to travel as usual.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 Genero Adran Trophy Final between Wrexham and Cardiff City at Bangor City Stadium on Sunday 22 February (KO 17:00).

All seats are unreserved and can be bought online for the following prices (plus booking fee):

How Wrexham reached the final

Wrexham reached the Genero Adran Trophy final for the first time in their history following emphatic 6-0 semi-final win over Briton Ferry Llansawel at The Rock.

A moment of brilliance from Faye Knox earned the Red Dragons the breakthrough in the 23rd minute as the former Cymru U19 international beautifully curled a free-kick into the top corner.

Knox doubled her and Wrexham’s tally nine minutes into the second half as she rounded Courtney Young and slotted home, before captain Jodie Bartle added a third goal moments later by bundling the ball in after Ferry failed to deal with Hannah Snape’s corner.

Knox completed her hat-trick in the 65th minute as she skipped past the Ferry defence and sent another clinical effort beyond Young, while Rosie Hughes bagged a brace to complete the scoring.

However, Hughes will miss next month’s final after she was shown a straight red card late on for a dangerous challenge on Begw Gruffydd.

Hurrah for Bangor!

Bangor City Stadium will host the 2025/26 Genero Adran Trophy Final between Wrexham and Cardiff City on Sunday 22 February 2026 (KO 17:00).

It will be the first time that the stadium has hosted the final of the Genero Adran Trophy, but it has been the venue for three previous men’s Welsh Cup finals and will also be one of the stadia in use at this summer’s men’s UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Wrexham booked their place in the Genero Adran Trophy final for the first time with an emphatic 6-0 semi win over Briton Ferry Llansawel, as Faye Knox scored a hat-trick. Meanwhile, Cardiff City – who won the competition in 2024 triumphed 3-0 away at holders The New Saints to reach the final.

The two sides are currently separated by just one point in the Genero Adran Premier table, with Cardiff sitting top of the standings and Wrexham chasing them down in a thrilling title race.
