Genero Adran North: Bangor hold Llandudno, Flint lead early but end up beaten

Goalkeeper Catrin Fôn Roberts was outstanding between the posts for CPDM Bangor

Honours ended even in a well-contested game at Treborth on Sunday afternoon.

There was a surprise inclusion in the Bangor line-up with Rebecca Elliott, usually a goalkeeper who recently left Adran Premier side The New Saints, but also former gloveswoman for the Citizens and Llandudno, appearing as an outfielder for the home side.

And Elliott nearly gave Bangor the lead, her cross-shot from the left forcing a fine save from visiting stopper Megan Robinson.

Menna Evans was also twice denied by great saves from Roibinson, while Catrin Roberts also excelled at times in the other goal.

However, Roberts was unable to stop Kelsey Davies making it 1-0 on 38 minutes from a Jennifer Haynes assist.

The hosts were also indebted to defender Carol Lewis for making a tremendous goal-line clearance to prevent Tudno scoring again.

Bangor equalised on the hour. Holly Owen Roberts played a pass to Menna Evans who beat away defenders before firing a good strike into the bottom-left corner.

Chances for a winner came at both ends, but the game finished all-square.

Rosie Hughes scored her seventh goal of the season for Flint

Despite taking an early lead, Flint ended up well beaten at the hands of a Llanfair side which leapfrogged them into second place.

In tough conditions, the Silkwomen started off well, getting a second-minute goal when Shona Roberts played a through ball to Beth Roberts, whose low cross was tapped in at the near post by Rosie Hughes, who bagged her seventh goal of the season and has scored in three successive games.

The visitors struggled to build on that, were on the back foot for most of the first half, but defended their box well and managed to create a few counter attacking chances.

However, late in the half, Tania Wylde levelled for the hosts.

In the second half, the Powys-based home team were much the stronger, Wylde adding another three goals to make it four in all, while Sophie Cook also found the net.
