A Disciplinary Panel of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has met to consider the charge against Rhys Griffiths for the Disciplinary Offence as set out under FAW Rule 38.1.1 for breach of the FAW Social Media Regulations.
Following the JD Welsh Cup fixture between Penybont FC and Flint Town United FC on 13 December 2025, Mr Griffiths is alleged to have made comments during a post-match interview which:
The Panel noted the charge had been admitted and Mr Griffiths was in attendance to present mitigation. Based upon the evidence provided and Mr Griffith’s own admission, the charge was found proven.
Mr Griffiths will be subject to a nine-match suspension, of which three shall be suspended and only invoked if Mr Griffiths commits a further breach of the FAW Social Media Regulations within 12 months of the date of the full decision letter.
The suspension will commence from the date of the full decision letter and run until such time as Penybont FC’s men’s senior team have completed six matches in league and cup competitions (whichever comes first). Mr Griffiths will also be subject to a fine of £300.00 and shall pay costs of £25.00 within 31 days of the date of the full decision letter.
The Panel noted that Mr Griffiths is a registered Academy coach for Penybont U10s and have confirmed that the suspension will not apply to his role with this team.
