Ellie Coulson’s extra time strike sent Llangefni through to the semi-finals of the League Cup at the expense of Rhyl visitors NFA.

The score was 1-1 when Marissa George delivered a low ball from the right and Coulson lashed a perfect shot into the top corner for her seventh goal of the season.

After a goalless first half, Cefni took the lead a minute following the restart when Ffion Owen was brought down in the box and Cerys Gadd netted from the penalty spot.

NFA equalised on 69 minutes when Loz Jones scored her seventh goal of the campaign from a Rachael Thomas assist.

An extra half-hour was needed with the tie all-square after 90 and it was the ever-consistent Coulson who delivered the decider.

Cefni have now won 12 of their last 13 matches, the only loss in that sequence coming on penalties against higher-tier Llandudno in the Welsh Cup.

This was a third meeting of the season between Llangefni and NFA and the Ynys Môn side have won all three – 1-0 and 3-0 in the league and now 2-1 in the cup.

Both teams are well-matched, though, with both well-placed in the North Wales Coast League, Town top with nine straight wins and NFA in third spot.
