New signing Paul Hart struck twice for Denbigh in a much-needed win at Clappers Lane on this weekend 10 years ago.
Town were on a run of four defeats, including a pair of 6-1 losses at Barry Town United in the Welsh Cup and at home to Flint Town United in the league, plus a 7-1 hammering at Caernarfon in another Cymru Alliance clash.
Manager Gareth Thomas called for a response at Gresford and got it.
Perry made four changes to the starting line up with Dan Lloyd and Hart handed debuts.
Denbigh went one-up inside two minutes when Hart linked up with Kristian Pierce who fired home to give the visitors a dream start.
Five minutes later, Gresford needed keeper Jon Hill-Dunt to make a smart save from Hart as Denbigh controlled the play.
The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession in the first half without unduly hurting their opponents whilst Elliott Power in the Town goal was largely untroubled.
The second half saw plenty of Gresford pressure but Denbigh were disciplined with their defending and always looked threatening on the break.
On 82 minutes Sam Jones won the ball in midfield and played in Hart who lobbed Hill-Dunt to put Town two-up.
Gresford thought they had clawed a goal back on 84 when Gareth Williams fired home but the offside flag went up.
Deep into stoppage time a superb counter attack saw Sam Jones break and release Hart for his second to finish the scoring to wrap up a much deserved win and welcome three points.
WHAT ELSE HAPPENED IN THIS SEASON?
- Denbigh Town finished third in the 2015-16 Cymru Alliance standings with Gresford ending up sixth.
- The teams met on two other occasions that season, drawing 3-3 at Central Park in the league, while Athletic triumphed 2-0 at Denbigh in a Huws Gray Cup game.
