The FAW have cleared up confusion over dates for the next round of the Amateur Trophy.
When Grassroots North Wales revealed today the scheduled date for the quarter-final draw is January 7, concern was expressed by a number of competing clubs.
These clubs were under the impression the last eight ties were taking place on January 10 – just three days after the draw, thus leaving minimal time to make arrangements, including potential long-distance travel.
However, the FAW confirmed the quarter-finals will not take place until February 20-22, so clubs will have ample time after the draw to prepare. The original plans for an extra round in January were scrapped.
An FAW spokesman said: “The quarter-finals are scheduled for 20-22 February – there may have originally been a round scheduled for January but this was removed as it wasn’t required due to the number of teams who entered.”
