Three North Wales teams are through to the quarter-finals of the FAW Youth Cup,
Caernarfon Town, Colwyn Bay and Connah’s Quay Nomads all made it into the last eight of the national competition today.
A tense encounter at USW Sports Park saw Bay advance to the quarters on a penalty shootout.
After a goalless first half, Jack Jones edged Ponty in front in the 53rd minute.
Bay levelled on 70 when Ben Hoban found the net, Max McGoona with the assist.
No further score so penalties were needed.
McGoona, Efan Bowden-Williams, Luca Moran, Thomas Attewell and Joe Parker all scored for the Bay, while Luke Murphy saved the crucial fifth home side penalty.
The Quay 3G hosted the much-awaited Deeside derby between the longer-established Nomads and exciting newcomers Town.
Nomads led 1-0 at half time, Oliver Rose scoring from a 16th minute James Hughes assist.
A minute into the second half, Rose struck again, this time Josh Mather the supplier.
Aiden Calby made ultra-sure of the home win by making it 3-0 in the 92nd minute, sub Jack Fagan assisting.
Last season’s beaten finalists Caernarfon stormed into the 2025-26 quarter-finals with a 7-1 demolition of Corinthians at the 3G Byw’n Iach.
Charlie Griffith got the Cofis off to a flyer with goals on 11 and 19 minutes and it stayed 2-0 up to half time, the visitors suffering another blow when McKenzie Croft was red-carded after 43.
After the break Iwan Jones made it three on 51 before captain Daniel Rowe pulled one back for the South Walians.
Caernarfon were in command, though, Osian Thomas adding to their total on 63 before Osian Ellis boosted the lead to 5-1 after 74.
Guto Parry and sub Jack Williams put away further strikes in the closing stages.
