Walis Bryncoch held on to top spot in DIVISION ONE of the Cynghrair Pêl-rwyd Hogan Gwynedd a Môn Netball League last Wednesday (November 26) with a hard-fought 29-23 win over Pwllheli Panthers.
Panthers won the opener 7-5 and led 16-12 at half time, but a big third quarter for Bryncoch went 9-3 in their favour, giving the table-toppers a 21-19 advantage entering the last.
And Walis kept on top, taking the closer 8-4 to clinch the match.
Second-place Tim o Walis recorded a comfortable 35-24 success over Porthmadog.
Walis won the first 12-4, Port hit back to edge the second 7-6, but the Caernarfon side finished on top in the final two to triumph by 11 goals.
In a battle of the traditional league giants, Arfon Ladies narrowly defeated reigning champions Menai Mavericks 18-17.
After a 5-5 opener, Arfon were 10-8 in front at the midway point, then edged the third 4-3. Mavericks took the last 6-4, but it was not quite enough to save them from their first loss of the campaign.
Rebals TC outscored Penygroes Primos 36-26, Rebals won the first three quarters, while the last ended 9-9.
All the wins in DIVISION TWO last Tuesday (November 25) were clear cut.
Leaders Thunderbirds piled on the goals in a 51-17 victory over Bethesda Bach, while second-place Thunderstars outplayed Blaenau Ffestiniog 28-8.
Third-place Holyhead Hawks were given a good battle by Pwllheli Dreigiau Dre before finishing on top 24-16. Dre’s Eleni Haque won both the Players and Umpires Player of the Match awards.
