North Wales Women’s Recreational League: Bay win battle of unbeatens, good night for Phoenix, Bees take points

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S RECREATIONAL LEAGUE

Kinmel Bay 0 Penmaenmawr Phoenix Yellows 1

Despite dominating much of the play and creating several clear chances, Kinmel Bay were repeatedly denied by an inspired performance from Penmaenmawr goalkeeper and captain Sarah Alderson, who made a string of impressive saves to keep her side ahead.

The decisive moment came in the 26th minute when Penmaenmawr broke through and found the back of the net with a well-taken finish by Toni Fairweather.

Kinmel Bay continued to press for an equaliser throughout the second half, showing determination and attacking intent, but couldn’t quite find a way past Alderson.

It was a spirited performance from the newly-formed Kinmel Bay, who will take plenty of positives from their attacking play and work rate despite the narrow loss.

Conwy Borough 0 Eglwysbach Queen Bees 2

Laura Nicholls and Danni Jean Hender grabbed the second half goals which ensured the Queen Bees remain unbeaten after six outings.

CPD Merched Llanrwst Unedig 1 Colwyn Bay 4

Samanatha O’Carroll (Sammi Faye) scored the first and last goals for the Seagulls at Llanrwst Junior Field, Sian Roberts and Jaide Ang also on the mark.

Assists came from Anna Jones, Ang and O’Carroll.

Nel Evans replied for Llanrwst from a Nanw Williams assist.

Bay manager Glen Houston said: “I’m extremely proud of the ladies tonight, they put in a professional performance against a strong, athletic Llanrwst team.”

Julie Green scored first for the Dragonhearts. but a Tiff Pacelli equaliser banked the second-placed Blues a point.
