FAW AMATEUR TROPHY: Bangor City 1876, Llangefni, Llannefydd, Phoenix and Prestatyn Town all advance

DRAGON SIGNS FAW AMATEUR TROPHY THIRD ROUND – REPORTS, NOVEMBER 1
CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 6 CPD Y Felinheli 1
Two goals apiece from Corrig McGonigle and Jamie Reed helped send Bangor into the last 16 of the FAW Amateur Trophy.
Saturday’s all-Ardal North West tie at Bangor City Stadium saw the Citizens just 2-1 up at the break, but by then Felinheli’s chances had taken a major knock after keeper Keirion Mansell was forced off injured after 25 minutes.
Mansell suffered a suspected broken arm and had to be replaced between the sticks by Aled Rice, normally an outfield player.
Bangor’s opening goal was a landmark one. McGonigle received the ball inot the box and applied a deadly finish into the corner to make it 450 senior goals for the 28-year-old.
Felinheli levelled things up on 12 with a beauty. Byron Davis spotted Carl Jones off his line and chipped the keeper from near halfway to make it 15 goals this season.
Then came the injury to Mansell which put the visitors at a big disadvantage.
Replacement Rice soon tipped over a McGonigle strike from a tight angle, Tomos Clarke headed against the post, then the makeshift keeper kept out Cai Owen’s low drive with an outstretched leg.

However, two minutes into added time, Josh Carey did make it 2-1.
McGonigle notched Bangor’s third early in the second half before Rice again used a leg to deny Dion Donohue.
In the 59th minute the man who cannot stop scoring, Tommy Creamer, lashed in a beauty for Michael Johnson’s men.
The tie was now secure, but the scoring from Bangor had not stopped, Reed netting twice in added time to make it 10 goals this term.
Llangefni Town 3 Kinmel Bay 0

Although Tier 3 hosts Llangefni progressed as expected against opponents from a lower league, it could have been a much closer affair had Kinmel Bay taken their chances.
Cefni struck after just seven minutes, Sion Jones with the finish via a Gethin Thomas assist.

Out to turn the form book around after three straight defeats, Town were unable to increase their lead until the 67th minute, Dion Jones grabbing his 14th goal of the season, Osian Jones the chance supplier.
Osian Jones was involved again as Ifan Mansoor put the Ynys Môn side 3-0 up in the 72nd minute.
CPD Llannefydd 2 Bethesda Athletic 1
Llannefydd edged into round four with a narrow triumph over a determined Bethesda.
Tom Jones handed the hosts a 25th minute lead via the penalty spot and Sam Jones added a second on 44.
Pesda manager Mark Hughes was ordered from the dugout for a second yellow card on 36.
Athletic fought hard to get themselves back in the tie after the break and gave themselves hope when Kyle Hartleb made it 2-1 from a Cameron Robertson assist on 81.
Bethesda had Noa Hughes dismissed for a second yellow on 86 and Llannefydd held on for the win.
Prestatyn Town 2 CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 1

Alex Jones’ 86th minute winner sealed progression for Tier 3 Prestatyn at the expense of visiting underdogs Penrhyndeudraeth.
It proved a hard test for the Seasiders against opponents from the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier, but Gareth Thomas’ men just made it through.
It was Alex Jones who netted first, making the most of a Rob Hughes assist on 21 minutes.
Penrhyn hit back on 56 minutes through the prolific Cian Pritchard, who made it 16 goals for the season.
Penalties were looming until Joe Holt supplied the set up and Alex Jones the all-important finish four minutes from time.
Conwy Borough 0 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 3
Jay Sutton (2) and Dan Evans sent Penmaenmawr into the next round.
This tie was reported on in depth by Grassroots North Wales on Saturday.
