Llangefni Town 1 (Gadd 54)

What a game is in store this Sunday!

Two sides with identical perfect records in the North Wales Coast Women’s League go head-to-head when Kinmel Bay host Llangefni Town.

Both teams have won all four of their league matches to date and have the same goal difference of +11, with Bay sitting top on goals scored.

Llangefni will be chasing a third successive HUGE away win.

After beating Adran North side Llanfair United in the Welsh Cup on October 19, Dan Gregg’s team claimed a first-ever league triumph over back-to-back champions Pwllheli last Sunday.

To make the day even more special, it was manager Gregg’s 100th game at the helm.

The first half proved to be an evenly contested affair, with both teams trading blows in attack and showing great composure in defence.

Pwllheli, keen to maintain their impressive home record, pushed hard, but Llangefni’s back-line held firm, denying any clear-cut opportunities. Similarly, Llangefni tested the home keeper, but neither side could find the breakthrough up to the break.

It didn’t take long for Llangefni to find a goal after the restart. A smart passage of play saw Lowri Thomas deliver a pass to Cerys Gadd. The midfielder manoeuvred herself into the penalty area before unleashing a powerful strike from a tight angle, nestling the ball into the back of the net to give the visitors a crucial 1-0 lead.

Pwllheli responded immediately, ramping up the intensity as they searched for an equaliser. They maintained sustained pressure and tested the Llangefni defence repeatedly. However, the visitors stood firm, with their defence successfully repelling every attack.

Llangefni’s manager made some changes, introducing Milly Lowe and Elin Roberts in place of Amber Brown and Ellie Coulson, both helping defend their team’s lead while also proving challenging for the opposition when on the break.

Town managed to hold Pwllheli off until the final whistle, ensuring Gadd’s lone goal was enough to secure the win and the three league points.

For CPD Pwllheli, the defeat ended a long-standing impressive home streak. This was their first home league loss since 2022, when they were beaten by Wrexham in the Adran North.

Llangefni will now look to carry this confidence into Sunday’s crunch clash at Kinmel Bay.
