Kinmel Bay are top of the league after third win on the bounce

Lexi Walsh was a five-star performer for Kinmel Bay

KIA LLANDUDNO NORTH WALES COAST WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE REPORT – SEPTEMBER 30

Denbigh Town 1 (C Jones 24)
Kinmel Bay 6 (Walsh 7, 22, 42, 45+1, & 54; Nettleton 88)

Five goals from 16-year-old sensation Lexi Walsh helped Kinmel Bay to a third successive victory which put them top of the league on Tuesday night.

Walsh made it 10 goals in five matches this season for the senior side and 25 in 12 first team games in all since making her debut in February this year.

Bay put on a devastating display of attacking football at Central Park to storm past Denbigh Town with a remarkable 6-1 away victory, powered by that amazing five-goal haul from striker Walsh.

The visitors wasted no time stamping their authority on the game, with Walsh opening the scoring in just the 7th minute, latching onto a clever through ball from Tash Standing and calmly slotting home.

The striker doubled her tally in the 22nd minute, this time pouncing on a clever assist from Scarlett Gregson with a long ball from the back to make it 2-0 and put the hosts under real pressure.

Denbigh, however, hit back almost immediately. In the 24th minute, Cara Jones seized her chance, finishing well to briefly reignite home hopes.

On the stroke of half-time, Walsh showed her killer instinct, firing in her hat-trick goal in the 42nd minute thanks to great build-up play from Seren Williams.

Three minutes later, Walsh added her fourth, combining superbly again with Standing, who registered her second assist of the evening. Kinmel Bay marched into the break with a commanding 4-1 lead.

The second half began in much the same fashion, with Walsh continuing her unstoppable form. In the 54th minute, she capped off a dream performance by scoring her fifth goal of the match, set up by an intelligent pass from Amy Chesters, leaving Denbigh’s defence in disarray.

With the game already well in their control, Kinmel Bay continued to push forward. The final flourish came late on in the 88th minute, when Jess Nettleton got on the scoresheet after being teed up by Georgia Williams, putting the exclamation mark on a truly dominant display.

As the referee blew for full-time, Kinmel Bay celebrated a scintillating success, with Walsh’s five-goal masterclass stealing the headlines but every player playing their part in an electrifying performance.

Tash Standing
