CRICKET: Two promotions, two relegations and a pair of bottom-place finishes – real mixed bag of fortunes for North Wales clubs in 2025 Liverpool Comp
All of the final day fixtures in the 2025 Liverpool and District Cricket Competition season were cancelled due to heavy rain.
Colwyn Bay 1st XI are relegated from the ECB Premier League after just one season back in the top flight.
Bay finished next-to-bottom but were by no means disgraced in a high-quality league in which they were unlucky to either lose or draw several games.
The club said on its social media: “It is a disappointing end in what was a season full of promise – a really young side gave it their all and were extremely unlucky not to come out on the other side of some results. We will rebuild and be back next year.”
By contrast, Colwyn Bay 2nd XI finished second in the 2nd XI First Division and will return to the Premier in 2026.
Northop Hall 1st XI are runners-up in the 1st XI Second Division and are promoted back to Division One.
Returning hero Paul Jenkins took an amazing 90 league wickets over the season. James Hurlin picked up 49 victims and Carwyn Johnson scooped 40.
Northop Hall 2nd XI were relegated after ending up bottom of the 2nd XI First Division.
Prestatyn 1st XI finished 74 points adrift at the 1st XI Second Division basement, while their 2nd XI propped up the 2nd XI Second Division table, 116 points behind the next team up.
On a positive note, 1st XI captain Adam Tidswell claimed a career best 52 league wickets.
