CPD Pwllheli announce two new signings

Awel Ellis (left) and Lois Love have joined CPD Pwllheli

Two new names have joined CPD Pwllheli – one well-known and the other a promising youngster looking to make her mark.

Awel Fflur Ellis, 24, and 16-year-old Lois Love both featured in today’s 4-1 victory for Pwll over NFA in the NWCFA Challenge Cup.

Usually a centre-midfield or forward player, Awel has previously played for Caernarfon Town, Bethesda Athletic, Llanberis and CPDM Bangor.

One of her most memorable achievements came against current club Pwllheli when she netted four times for Llanberis in a 5-4 victory back in December 2019.

She also won the North Wales Women’s League Division Two title with Bethesda Athletic in 2018-19 and was in the CPDM Bangor squad crowned invincible North Wales League champions in 2022-23.

Awel joined CPDM Bangor in 2020 and netted 22 goals in 42 appearances for the team, including another four-goal haul versus Caernarfon Town in October 2022, plus two hat-tricks against Llanystumdwy.

She had not played since 2023-24, but appeared as a sub in Pwllheli’s win on Sunday.

Lois is a local girl who now becomes eligible for senior football after turning 16. Pwllheli has high hopes that she will shine for the team.

Pwllheli said in a statement today: “Rydym yn falch iawn o groesawu Awel Ellis a Lois Love i dîm merched CPD Pwllheli.

“Mae’r ddwy yn dod â chryn egni a thalent i’r garfan, ac edrychwn ymlaen at eu gweld ar y cae’r tymor hwn.

“Croeso i’r clwb Awel a Lois – dymunwn y gorau i chi’ch dwy ar gyfer y tymor sydd o’n blaenau.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Awel Ellis and Lois Love to the Pwllheli FC Women’s squad.

“Both players bring fantastic energy and talent to the team, and we can’t wait to see them on the pitch this season.

“Welcome to the club Awel and Lois — wishing you both the very best for the season ahead.”
