LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST – REPORTS AND TABLE AUGUST 8-9

Bethesda Athletic 1 CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 3

Fantastic photo from CHRIS OWEN PHOTOGRAPHY – those Bangor kits though – absolute top quality

Two late goals earned Bangor City 1876 a third straight win which puts them top of Ardal North West on goal difference.
Michael Johnston and Sean Eardley’s side still have a 100 percent record, but it proved tough work at Parc Meurig on Saturday against a hard-to-beat Bethesda outfit.
City threatened early, James Barry’s fierce near-post drive saved but spilled back into the Pesda goalmouth, where the danger was somehow cleared.
Athletic came more into the game before City won a free kick which Corrig McGonigle fired goalwards, but Gethin Hughes saved.
Hughes made a better stop from a Liam Morris before the visitors took the lead in first half added time.
Jamie Reed played a neat through ball and Morris finished well.
Bethesda started the second half on the front foot and earned a 50th minute penalty which Osian Hughes put away.
McGonigle rattled the post for 1876, but Pesda, who made a series of substitutions, were still looking lively.
It was end-to-end stuff until in the 88th minute McGonigle headed home a great cross from Cai Owen.
Then in the 90th minute, Morris made sure of the points with a great strike.
Good win for Bangor but also a really encouraging show from Bethesda.

Llanrwst United 3 Trearddur Bay 2

Cieran Williams found the net for Llanrwst

Friday’s clash at Gwydir Park saw Llanrwst pick up a welcome first league win of the season at the expense of a Trearddur Bay side which lost its early unbeaten record.
In a very back and forth game, both sides attacked and caused each other problems in the opening minutes.
The Rwsters took an 11th minute lead with a cool finish from the young and very talented new arrival Cieran Williams.
This was shortly followed by another goal from the prolific Callum Parry, giving the Conwy Valley hosts a 2-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw Trearddur apply a lot more pressure, but the home defence stayed strong. A few changes from the islanders led to more attacking threat and Christoph Aziamale reduced the arrears with a smart lobbed finish on 75 minutes.
It was game on now, but there was a quick response from Llanrwst with a pinpoint free kick from Cai Evans headed in by Parry for his brace on the 80th minute.
Yet again Bay rallied, resulting in Tom Hilditch pulling off an unstoppable finish with 83 on the clock.
The visitors applied heavy late pressure, but the home side held on for the points.

Llay Welfare 5 Connah’s Quay Town 0

Cavan Daley (2), Dean Bryan (2) and Jonathan Collo combined to deliver a thumping victory for home side Llay on Saturday.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 1 Prestatyn Town 1
Report: Mason Houldsworth

Prestatyn celebrate their equaliser

In an enthralling encounter, Penmaenmawr and Prestatyn played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw, both sides showcasing moments of quality and resilience.
Town began brightly, but struggled to penetrate Pen’s well-organised defence.
Content to absorb pressure, Phoenix looked to hit on the counter. Their patience paid off when Adam Hold broke free down the right, latching onto a pinpoint through ball before firing past Adam Reid to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead.
Town responded with intent, Zebb Edwards’ header from a corner crashing against the crossbar. Inexplicably, no Town player could capitalise on the rebound.
The visitors’ momentum continued as they won a penalty following a foul in the box, but Rob Hughes’ spot kick was saved by Elliot Jarvis diving to his left.
Phoenix should have doubled their lead before the break, squandering a golden opportunity.
Prestatyn came out with renewed vigor after the interval, however their momentum was disrupted by injuries to key players. Rob Hughes limped off, followed by replacement James Williams in a double blow that sapped Town’s rhythm. The introduction of Antonio Jacovelli and Casey Faulkner proved pivotal, with Faulkner’s energy down the right reinvigorating Town’s attack.
Penmaenmawr remained dangerous, and only a miraculous save from Reid kept Town in the game.
With 10 minutes remaining, Town’s persistence paid off. Leon Atkins delivered a precise ball to Jacovelli, who calmly slotted into the bottom corner.
Prestatyn were denied a late winner by a stunning Jarvis save and a double goal-line clearance.

CPD Pwllheli 4 Mynydd Isa 0

Ashley Ainsworth was on target twice for a dominant Pwllheli outfit who whipped up a convincing victory.
Ainsworth found the net on 55 and 68 minutes, captain Louis McFarlane and Sion Jones also on target for the hosts.

St Asaph City 0 Porthmadog 3

Super action from St Asaph (yellow and black) versus Porthmadog. Many thanks JAMES OWEN ROBERTS

Jonny Bravo continued his good start to life at Y Traeth with a double at Roe Plas Meadows.
Port started brightly and had plenty of possession, but St Asaph defended well in the early stages, Jacob Roberts producing a fine save to deny Sam Reynolds.
In the 27th minute the deadlock was broken when Cai Jones sent a wonderful through ball for Bravo to slot past Roberts.
Some close calls for the visitors followed before finally on 42 Bravo scored his second from an excellent Reynolds cross.
Saints started the second half in determined fashion, Josh Cooke in the Port goal making two vital saves to keep it at 2-0.
However, Port started to take back control of the match. Great work by Shaun Cavanagh found Cai Jones whose strength got the better of the home defender to fire Port into a 3-0 lead.
More goals could have come the away side’s way before the end.

CPD Y Felinheli 1 Llangefni Town 2

Cefni did well to edge a tight contest after playing much of the game with 10 men following a 14th minute red card for Harri Hughes.
Felin took a 20th minute lead when impressive youngster Byron Davis finished well, Cal Macdonald with the assist.
However, Ifan Mansoor levelled on 25, Osian Jones the chance supplier, and a Dion Jones penalty handed the Anglesey men a half time lead.
No further goals in the second half, with Felin keeper Dylan Roberts shown a red card after the final whistle. Cefni have won three out of three, with only Bangor City 1876 having the same perfect record in these early stages of 2025-26.
