North Wales Coast West League: Blaenau off to a flyer, misery for Gwalchmai and Glantraeth

PREMIER DIVISION
Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 2 Cemaes Bay 1
A magnificent start to life in Tier 4 for Blaenau as they fought back from a goal down to beat a team expected to be contenders for the Premier title.
Cemaes Bay took a ninth-minute lead when last season’s 33-goal star Luke McGivern opened his account for 2025-26 when he finished off a Cameron Buckley assist.
The Quarrymen equalised in the 14th minute through Deio Williams, Jack Diamond the chance supplier.
The winner came two minutes into the second half, Cai Price setting up Sion Hughes to find the net.
Bay’s Matt Reynolds was red-carded after the final whistle.
Gwalchmai 1 CPD Llanystumdwy 7
It has been a tough summer for a Gwalchmai outfit having to rebuild after losing endless key players – and the pains of their labours were apparent as last season’s runners-up slumped 7-1 at home to Llanystumdwy.
Iwan Richards (2), Guto Griffith, Elgan Jones, Aron Jones (2) and Tomos Williams shared the goals for the visitors, who scored five in the second half.
Alan Mark Owen replied for Gwalch from the penalty spot.
CPD Llanberis 1 Bontnewydd 2
Cai Penny Williams bagged the winner for Bont five minutes into added time.
Dylan Parry struck first for Llanberis after just four minutes and it stayed 1-0 until former Cymru Premier player Clive Williams equalised on 68 from a Jac Bee assist.
Keeper Mathew Roberts then helped supply the decider for Cai Penny Williams in the 95th minute – a tremendous result for Bont.
CPD Llannerchymedd 1 CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 4
Last season’s 33-goal hero Cian Pritchard was on target twice in Penrhyndeudraeth’s opening day success at Tan Parc.
Callum Jones put the visitors one-up after 35 minutes, Pritchard with the assist, but Gwion Thomas levelled in the early stages of the second half.
Gwion Davies restored the away lead after 69, then Pritchard netted on 72 before adding a penalty two minutes later.
Nantlle Vale 5 CPD Boded 1

Relegated to Tier 4 this season, Nantlle Vale made a fine start in their quest to return to a higher level with a 5-1 beating of Boded.
Ashley Owen (2), Alex Kalafusz, Elis Puw and Osian Jones split the home net-finders, Jordan Taylor with the Anglesey side’s sole reply.
CPD Nefyn United 2 Llanrug United 0
Noa Griffith and Ifan Jones delivered the first half goals which made sure a Nefyn side that impressed last season began the new campaign in winning style.
Talysarn Celts 21 Glantraeth 1

A huge win for Talysarn against a Glantraeth side which has had to undergo a complete overhaul during the sunner.
Substitute Aled Jones bagged a remarkable five goals after coming on in the second half, while fellow replacement Glyn Hughes-Thomas struck four times.

There were hat-tricks for Gethin Jones, Garem Jones and Luke Baum, plus singles from Guto Hughes, Osian Williams and sub Jack Usher.
Christian Broster replied for Glantraeth in the first half when the Anglesey side were 6-0 down.
CPD Mynydd Llandegai 1 Menai Bridge Tigers 4 (Friday)
Leon Buckland handed Llandegai a 10th minute lead, but two goals apiece from new signings Kaine Bentley and Jamie McDaid sealed what was in the end a convincing victory for the Tigers.

Amlwch Town 2 CPD Deiniolen 0
Finn Cusick and Tomos Williams both scored in the first half to bag an opening day triumph for Amlwch at Lon Bach.
CPD Cefni 4 CPD Mountain Rangers 1
Four first half strikes put Cefni on their way to an emphatic win.
Nathan Lewis, Glenn North, Tyler Mapp and James Ryan were all on the mark for the Anglesey hosts, Daniel Owen with a consolation for Rangers after the break,
Llangoed and District 3 Holyhead Town 1
Wayne Thomas got his season up and running nicely with a double in Llangoed’s win over Holyhead Town at Tyddyn Paun.
Thomas struck on 19 and 59 minutes for the Puffins before Cameron Owen added a third, Mel McGinness opening his account for the Harbourmen to make it 2-1 on 70.
CPD Pentraeth 4 CPD Caernarfon Borough 0
Charlie Dales continued his good opening to the campaign with a two-goal salvo in Pentraeth’s thrashing of newcomers Borough.
Kian Abbott and Cian Taylor were also on the mark for the Sandmen.
