Sion Morris scored the 14th LDCC century of his career for a Colwyn Bay side which came within five runs of a fabulous victory at Bootle.
Wales international Morris also edged over the 14,500 league runs mark for the Bay with a superb 105 at Wadham Road.
After losing the toss and being put into bat, the Liverpool hosts posted a challenging 251-7 declared off 50.5 overs, opener and former Northop Hall batsman Alastair Andrady making 75, Sagar Trivedi 60 and ex-Prestatyn star Ryan Westwell 37.
For the visitors, Matt Russell took 4-87 and Morris 2-30.
Bay’s response ended on 247-6, Morris’ ton coming off 114 balls and including 13 fours and three sixes, while the ever-blossoming Charlie Collins hit 58.
A seven-wicket loss at Ainsdale for winless Prestatyn, who are 19 points adrift at the bottom.
The visitors won the toss and batted, being bowled out for 154, skipper Andy Taylor making 33 and Gareth Leonard 32, Silanka Auwardt scooping 6-61 off 27.2 for the hosts.
Ainsdale made it comfortably to 155-3 off 37, Andrew Barlow 51 not out, Kieron Tidswell picking up 2-35 for the visitors.
Hall suffered their first defeat since the opening day of the season and would have been disappointed they fell short in chasing a modest winning target of 136 at Wavertree.
Invited to bat, the Liverpool outfit were dismissed for 135, Hamish Ferrell saving their bacon with 63 not out, left-arm spinner Paul Jenkins again in marvellous form with 6-57, Carwyn Johnson 3-37.
In reply, the visitors were shot out for 123, having been 46-6 at one stage, Johnson giving them late hope with 37. Anvarsha Vahid took 4-39 for the hosts.
A shock first loss of the season for Colwyn Bay seconds who still lead the table by 23 points despite getting thumped by Bootle seconds at Penrhyn Avenue.
The Liverpool visitors set 222-5 declared off 49 overs after calling the coin correctly and electing to bat, Josh Andrady 71 and skipper Danny Hart 68, Samuel Costley snaring 4-68 for the Welsh hosts.
In response, Bay were blown away for just 131, Costley 67 and Thomas Omelia 30, Andrady 5-36 and Ethan McCormack 4-16.
Michael Williamson (36) and Gareth Fox (34) batted soundly for Hall seconds, but the home total of 143 all out was just not enough, Adam Carus McDonald 4-48 for the travellers.
Wavertree were in bother at 100-7 in reply, but an unbroken eighth-wicket stand of 44 saw them home without further alarm.
Steven Bouckley (41 not out) was a key man for the Merseysiders, Liam Evans-Ford bagging 4-77 and Robbie Edwards 2-25 off 10 for the Flintshire hosts.
Rainhill seconds posted a winning 178-6 declared off 37 overs at Beach Close, Neil Robinson 59, Ben Williams 2-40 for the hosts, who were then blitzed out for just 58 after Jason Edwards and Ashley Jones had out on 34 for the first wicket, Darren Tyms 6-16 for the victors.
