TUESDAY, MAY 27

North Wales Coast West Premier Division

Gwalchmai 5 (M Evans 3, Connor Owen 39, 68 & 88 pen, Vaughan 80)
Bontnewydd 0

The amazing Connor Owen ended the season in magnificent style with a hat-trick in Gwalchmai’s five-goal beating of Bontnewydd at Maes Meurig.

Owen’s treble made it 33 goals in all competitions for Gwalch this season and boosted his overall total for the club to 113 in 130 appearances,

In 2021-22 he netted 12, struck 39 in 2022-23 and 29 last season before pocketing 33 this term.

Craig Evans’ side made an early breakthrough tonight when Marc Evans notched his 21st goal of 2024-25 after just three minutes, Connor Owen with the assist.

The lead was doubled with 39 gone when James Saxon flicked the ball on to Owen, who fired over the keeper from outside the box for his first of the evening.

Midway through the second half it was 3-0 when Owen ran down the flank, cut inside and beat the keeper at his near post.

Andrew Jones was the chance supplier in the 80th minute when Llion Vaughan found the net.

And Owen completed his hat-trick with 88 gone, sending the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. The striker also hit the post twice during the game.

Gwalch ended the campaign second in the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division, just four points behind champions Bethesda Athletic.

Although the Anglesey side lost the same amount of games as Pesda – just four – the fact they had two less wins than the champions ensured they could not quite claim top spot.

It was an extremely demanding finish to the season for Gwalch, who due to a fixtures backlog had to play 14 games since the beginning of April. Bethesda faced a similar difficulty.
