North Wales Cricket League Div 1-4: Halkyn stun early pace-setters Llandudno, six for Samsodien

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – DIVISIONS 1-4
DIVISION ONE
Llandudno (1) 84-10 Halkyn (14) 162-10
Halkyn delivered the goods big style as they brought a crushing end to Llandudno’s perfect start to the season at The Oval.
The visitors won the toss and batted, scoring 162 all out in 38.4 overs, opener Nabeel Khan with 48 and Hammad Bajwa 36, Tudno spreading the wickets evenly through Tom Thornton (3-19), Oliver Hughes (3-23), Shana Kelly 2-22 and Lucas Hughes (2-26).
Llandudno’s reply proved a disaster, the scoreboard showing 84 all out, Thornton 29 not out, while Nathan Lavender scooped 3-18, Ben Roberts 3-20 and Nathan Roett 3-30 for the travelling side from Flintshire.
Bangor 2nd XI (2) 168-8 Mold (13) 170-4
Munowar Samsodien shone with the ball and skipper Isaac Allen starred in the batting stakes as Mold triumphed by six wickets at Ty Newydd.
Put into bat, Bangor seconds were limited to 168-8 off 45 overs, paceman Samsodien taking 6-27 for the visitors. For the home side, Mehul Ahir made 57 and opener Chris Barry 45.
Mold were 16-2 in reply, but got to grips with things and number five bat Allen was in scintillating form, striking an unbeaten 86 off 81 balls, including 11 fours and a six.
Ewan Hill contributed 33 as the Flintshire side reached 170-4 off 41.1, Ollie Dawson 2-20 for the Citizens.
Dolgellau (15) 225-4 Mochdre 2nd XI (0) 122-10
Opener Jaco Oosthuizen produced a career best score and maiden century in Dolgellau’s maximum points thrashing of Mochdre seconds.
Oosthuizen made 113 not out in Dol’s total of 225-4 off 45 overs, sharing in an opening stand of 87 with David Jenkins (24) and adding another 84 with Lufras Van Vuuren (38). Alex J Davies taking 2-34 for the visitors, who won the toss and inserted the hosts.
Davies top-scored with 43 as Mochdre seconds were dismissed in response for 122 off a mere 19.2 overs, Van Vuuren 3-23, Sion Francis 3-35, that man Oosthuizen 2-26 and Jack Williams 2-30
Gresford (3) 137-10 Northop 2nd XI (12) 140-6
A first win of the season for last year’s Division One champions Northop seconds.
Calling the coin correctly and opting for first knock, Gresford were bowled out for a modest 137, number 10 Simon Perry best with 29 not out, Darren Williams 3-11, Tom Sudder 3-26 and Joe Griffiths 2-13 for the visitors.
Paul Lindfield topped the chart with 38 as Northop seconds made it to a winning 140-6, Mohammed Wali Ahmadzai 2-21 for the Colliers.
Hawarden Park (15) 118-1 Connah’s Quay (0) 116-9
Early leaders Hawarden Park breezed to a nine-wicket victory at Moor Lane.
Deciding to bat first, Connah’s Quay could only muster a vulnerable-looking 116-9 off their 45 overs, Tom Norris 2-3 off nine, Tom Wilson 2-27 and Matthew Gentry 2-36.
Park took their time in reaching a winning 118-1 off 30.3, Evan Shaw 41 not out, captain Campbell Marr 34 no.
Pontblyddyn (11) 233-8 Brymbo 2nd XI (4) 199-9
James Hughes (57) and Cayo Jones (54) did most to ensure Pontblyddyn amassed a winning score of 233-8 at Alder Meadow, Sion Edwards 4-42 and Trinesh Fernando 2-33 for the Steelmen.
Brymbo seconds were limited to 199-9, Joss Roberts a commanding 89, Cayo Jones 2-38 and Ryan White 2-45 for the winners.
DIVISION TWO

Abergele (3) 164-10 Corwen (12) 197-8
Mark Wyeth led the charge with 47 as Corwen’s effort of 197-8 proved enough to bring them victory at Pentre Mawr Park.
Lalmon TV took 2-23 and Lewis Tolond 2-36 for Gele, who were then dismissed for 164, Edward Rooney and Ranjith Thozhuthingal both making 35, Harry Pooler pocketing 5-19 and Simon Harrison 3-46 – including the prize wicket of Lalmon TV for a duck – to seal a 12-3 victory for Corwen.
Llanrwst (2) 149-8 Marchwiel and Wrexham (13) 153-5
Gareth Evans was the star turn with bat and ball in Marchwiel and Wrexham’s five-wicket success at Gwydir Park.
Evans took 4-29 and Muhammad Ghufran 3-34 as the Rwsters were kept down to 149-8 off 40, Iwan Edwards 40 and Aron Hughes 35.
The visitors responded with 153-5, Evans 51, while Matt Lawrenson (34 no) and Ashok Kumar (25 no) formed the match-winning partnership for the sixth wicket, Caron Williams 2-31 for the hosts.
Menai Bridge 2nd XI (12) 233-8 Buckley (3) 201-8
In a game packed with good individual performances, Menai Bridge seconds ran out winners by 32 runs.
Electing to bat, the Anglesey hosts rattled up 233-8 from their 40, Andrew Nuttall 50, Luke Robinson 46, skipper Andrew Wannop 38 and Edward Gadsby 34, Jack Whitley collecting a superb 5-32 for Buckley.
The visitors’ reply ended on 201-8, Rocco Franco 50 and Harry Weigh 36 not out, Dion Owen and Sean Morris with identical figures of 3-29 off eight for the home side.
Pwllheli (12) 106-10 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (3) 79-10
Pwllheli are off the mark for the season after coming out on top in a low scoring affair at Parc Bodegroes.
Logan Morgan top-scored with 26 as the home side posted 106 all out off 21 overs, Fraser Keay an impressive 5-34 for Pont.
The visitors were sent packing for just 79, skipper Dave Evans a defiant 46, Kartik Bhardwaj a brilliant 5-5 for the hosts, Iwan Moore 2-14 and Ioan Jones 2-23.
Ruthin (3) 156-9 Carmel & District (12) 197-8
Ben Sim hit a career-best 113 as Carmel continued their flying start to the campaign with victory at Ruthin.
Skipper Sim certainly produced a captain’s innings, his second century for the club dominating an away batting effort of 197-8, Dafydd Roberts 3-33 and Joshua Duckworth 2-11 for the hosts, whose response ceased on 156-9, Ifan Hanifa 51 and Duckworth 48 not out, Sim starring again with 4-35, Amer Jamil 2-27 fhr the victorious visitors.
St Asaph 2nd XI (13) 140-5 Llay Welfare (2) 136-7
Opener Jack Edwards’ 76 not out was not enough to save a Llay side which set 136-7 from defeat at Elwy Park Grove.
Tim Cloete scooped 4-15 off eight for Saints, who made it to the winning post st 140-5, Russell Moore 39 for the hosts, R Hossain 2-21 for Llay.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (15) 131-0 Bethesda 2nd XI (0) 130-9
Mohsin Khan made it two centuries in three matches for Caernarfon on a great weekend for the Cofis where they earned a double victory.
Bethesda seconds were put into bat at Coed Helen and were bowled out for 130, Paul Williams 4-21 and Ian Morgan 3-19.
Mohsin Khan, who made 102 the previous weekend in a win at Gresford seconds, this time finished 104 not out as the hosts reached 131-0 off 29.1.
The opener’s ton came off 92 balls and included 17 fours and a six. Opening partner Chris Moody made a patient unbeaten 20.
