Simon Jones will always be highly respected for his successes as CPD Bontnewydd manager

Clwb Pel-Droed Bontnewydd manager Simon Jones will leave behind some great memories when he steps down at the end of this season.
Jones has announced he is calling it a day after six years in charge at Cae Stanley.
He has played a major part in the club’s progression in recent seasons, the highlight undoubtedly being winning the North Wales Coast West Division One championship and cup double in 2023-24.
Bont stepped up to the tier 4 Premier Division this season and after a good start where they won five in a row at one stage. the team has lost five league matches on the bounce and slipped down to 12th place.
Jones joined Bontnewydd as a player in 2011 and served the team for seven seasons, winning the Safeflue Shield twice, before having to give up football due to work commitments.
He became club chairman in 2018 before taking over as manager in 2019-20.

Bont spent one season in the Gwynedd League before becoming part of the North Wales Coast West League upon reorganisation in 2021-22 which led to the formation of tiers 3, 4 and 5.
After a modest first season in tier 5 Division One, Bont finished an impressive third in 2022-23 with only ‘big guns’ Trearddur Bay and Cemaes Bay above them.
The 2023-24 campaign was very much Bont’s time as they landed the Division One double, going through the entire league schedule unbeaten, thus gaining their first taste of the Premier.
CPD Bontnewydd announced the impending departure of Jones this week.
In a statement on social media, the club said: “The club wish to announce that the current first team manager, Simon Jones has expressed his intention to step down from the role at the end of the season.
“As a club we would like to thank Simon for all his hard work and dedication during his six successful years as manager where he has helped the club grow on and off the pitch.
“We are however, pleased that he will continue to be part of the committee and continue to work actively behind the scenes.
“We wish Simon and his young family all the best for the future.
“The club will now start the process of finding a replacement – further announcements will be made in the next few weeks.“
“Mae’r clwb yn dymuno cyhoeddi bod rheolwr presennol y tîm cyntaf, Simon Jones wedi datgan ei fwriad i roi’r gorau i’r rôl ar ddiwedd y tymor.

“Dymunwn y gorau i Simon a’i deulu ifanc ar gyfer y dyfodol.
