North East Wales League: Mynydd Isa complete title double, debutant champs Broughton win in style

League champions in their debut season, Broughton finished the 2024-25 campaign in style with an 8-0 win against Skippy.
Jake Jones opened the scoring in the first half, with Nath Swann-Jones doubling the lead from a Lewis Jones corner.
Lewis Hopwood then added a brace before half time to make it 4-0 at the break.
Sub Jayden Evans scored a second half hat-trick, bringing his senior goals tally to 45 in 28 matches, and Hopwood completed his treble.
This victory was also the fifth clean sheet on the bounce for the champions, who won 25 of their 28 matches, piling up 172 goals and conceding just 22.
CPD Yr Wyddgrug 1 CPD Sychdyn United 4
Sychdyn ended their league season with a victory which clinched runners-up spot and an automatic promotion place.
After falling one-behind early to Lewis James’ 32nd goal of the season, visitors captain Ross Walker got things level, man of the match Tom Lynch with the assist.
Two good stops from Nathan Bradbrook ensured Sychdyn kept it at 1-1 come the break.
Shay Davies put the CPD ahead on 71 minutes from another Lynch assist and it was Walker who stepped up again to complete a brilliant league campaign for the club with his brace.
Sub Linden Puckey put the game to bed late on.
CPD Cei Connah 1 Rhydymwyn 4
Victory on the road for third-place Rhydymwyn, Craig Worthington, Ryan Brown, Thomas Chamberlain and a Daniel Davies own goal sealing the points, Arkadiusz Mikula replying.
Deeside Dragons 2 Holywell United 3
Harvey Birch, Owen Marley and a Lewis Paynter own goal ensured Holywell edged this one, Jake Smith and Keiran Hughes responding.
Johnstown YFC 0 Aston Park Rangers 5
Doubles from veterans Jonny Crossley and Anthony Weaver, plus a Mason Lowery single, made it a comfortable victory for Rangers.
Michael Bailey was red-carded for the hosts after committing what was deemed a deliberate handball.
Friday, April 25
Bellevue 1 Overton Recreation 6
Nathan Tombs was a four-goal hero for Overton on Friday night, James Roberts and Peter Thedens also on target, Nigel Guramatunhu with a consolation for the hosts.
Acton 6 Cefn Druids 4
Sam Giles and Ethan Callaghan both scored twice as Acton came out on top in a 10-goal cracker.
Sean Price and Andrew Bithell added one each, while for Druids, Matthew Hayes, Jamie Roberts, Blake Parry and Andrew Roberts hit the target.

Matthew Worrall scored twice and Josh Phillips converted a penalty as Lex licked the leaders at Stansty Park on Monday evening.
Raynor Gray was the away side’s sole marksman.

Mynydd Isa Reserves 5 Cefn Albion Reserves 0

Mynydd Isa have been confirmed as back-to-back Reserve Division Group A champions.
Michael Whales, Jack Casey, Joshua Holmes, George Davies and Jay Wiles.scored the goals which sank Albion on Friday evening.
Rhos Aelwyd’s loss the following day meant Isa were assured of the league title.
This completed a fantastic double for Mynydd Isa with their first team also being crowned North East Wales League Premier Division champions.

Josh Price and sub Alan Huxley pocketed the goals which brought high-flyers Lex victory over the Steelmen.
Penyffordd Lions Reserves 3 Castell Alun Colts Reserves 1
Lewis Dallimore, Macken Tiley-Phillips and Daniel Shaw put Penyffordd three-up before Jarrod Christopher nabbed a late reply for Casty.
