Sian Moore is one of the best defenders in North Wales women’s football, but this season a change of position has brought out a new dimension to her talents.

Before this season, the 24-year-old had never scored for her team, but a switch to right-wing this term has been her find the net nine times.

And the hlghlight came on Wednesday night, when Sian registered her first hat-trick for the Llŷn Peninsula side.

Pwllheli kept their title hopes in the North East Wales West Division alive with a 12-0 drubbing of an Amlwch team which travelled with the bare 11.

The hosts were 7-0 up by half time.

Charley Davies struck first in the ninth minute, leading into the bottom-left corner from a Magi Hughes flag-kick.

It was 2-0 in the 13th minute, great build-up play resulting in Magi Hughes lashing home from the top of the box.

A third arrived on 19, Moore dribbling to the edge of the box and pulling the ball back for Jini Owen Hughes, whose clean strike found the net.

Moore’s first arrived in the 29th minute. Magi Hughes played the ball out wide and Moore broke to the goal-line corner of the 18-yard box and somehow managed to score.

Hayley Rees-Jones bagged number five after 37, misheading a Magi Hughes corner initially but tapping in the rebound.

Charley Davies and Lois Thomas added further goals before the break.

There was no let up from Pwll in the second half.

On 48 minutes, Lowri Hughes dribbled from centre-back up to the 18 yard, where she delivered a cross to Lois Thomas, who tip-toed around a defender and slotted into top-left corner for her 21st goal of the season.

It became 9-0 when Thomas’ missile was superbly saved by Ceri Pritchard, but substitute Cassie Ogilvy, a sportswoman more famous for netball achievements, calmly caught the rebound on the volley to register her first goal for the club.

Double figures was reached when Magi Hughes released Jini Owen Hughes on the left and her cross was converted into a goal by Moore from the penalty spot.

Another great run from Lowri Hughes on 66 minutes led to a cross which Moore headed in for her hat-trick.

The final goal was scored by Lily Dunwoody, whose fired a beautiful strike over the keeper and the ball dipped just under the crossbar.
