Moore, Moore, Moore, Moore, Moore….how do you like it? how do you like it?

Moore, Moore, Moore….How do you like it? How do you like it?

Or should that be – Moore, Moore, Moore. Moore. Moore…..How do you like it? How do you like it?

Even the legendary Andrea True Connection couldn’t have put it better in their 1976 smash (the extra two Moores would have been an ideal remix sample)..

After Kieffer Moore’s famous hat-trick for Wrexham against Coventry on Friday, two days later Sian Moore of Pwllheli went two better, scoring FIVE goals in her team’s 6-0 caning of Denbigh Town.

It is to be established whether Sian has set a new club record for most goals in a game, but it has certainly not been done over the past five seasons, Jini Owen Hughes, Leanne Rees-Hughes and Lois Thomas having all managed four goals in a single match since 2021-22.

Sunday saw the back-to-back North Wales League champions return to something like their best after an uncharacteristically inconsistent start to the campaign.

Moore opened her account in the fourth minute. A lovely direct cross from Leanne Rees-Hughes outside the box on the left side was mishandled by the keeper and Moore was left with a tap-in.

It remained 1-0 until the 37th minute when some slick passing involving almost the whole team resulted in a second away goal.

Pwllheli built up play from the back, Magi Hughes took a shot that was saved but the ball was miss-cleared on the edge of the box and Moore pounced, striking left-footed into the bottom right corner.

Super Sian Moore

In first half added time, Rees-Hughes switched play from the left to Stacey Sansome and then Magi Hughes fed a smart through ball which released Moore to fire into the bottom-right of the net.

Comfortable for Pwll at half time and in the 72nd minute they went four-up. Magi Hughes sent over a corner and Moore headed home from the penalty spot, bringing her personal tally to four, including a perfect hat-trick.

Pwllheli were not finished. In the 75th minute they played out from the back again with neat one-twos shared between Lowri Hughes and Sansome. Hughes fed Moore on the right and netter turned assister. crossing into Bess Roberts to finish from the penalty spot.

Five-star Sian then completed her dream display with the sixth Pwllheli goal on 88 minutes.

More tidy play from the back saw Rees-Hughes break down the left, take on two players and cross for Moore to slot in left-footed at the back post.
