CPDM Y Felinheli into second cup final after semi opponents Llangefni withdraw

Felinheli celebrate after winning the 2024 NWCFA Women’s Challenge Cup Final

CPDM Y Felinheli are through to a second final of the season after semi-final opponents Llangefni Town withdrew from the NWCFA Women’s Challenge Cup.

The last-four clash between Adran North club Felin and Cefni of the tier 3 North East Wales League West Division was due to be played at Cae Seilo on April 16.

However, due to the Anglesey team dropping out, Aaron Jones-Evans’ cup holders advance to the final, where they face either Amlwch Town or Llandudno, who meet in their semi next Wednesday, April 16.

The final will take place at a venue still to be confirmed on Sunday, April 27.

Felin are also into the NEWFA Women’s Challenge Cup Final, where the challenge of CPD Pwllheli is in store at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, Airbus UK Broughton, on May 11, 4 pm kick-off.

Speaking about Llangefni’s withdrawal from the NWCFA semi-final, Felin manager Jones-Evans said: “As a club we are obviously disappointed to not play a semi final, especially against a club who have aspirations of playing tier 2 football next season.

It’s always a great experience for players to compete in a game that has so much at stake, not also that, but for the chance to showcase the talent around our area.

“Our club always strives to play competitive games.

“Saying that our attention can now be fully on both finals. The NWCFA final will be our immediate focus and preparing properly is key.

“The women will be focused and working hard to be the best version of CPDM Y Felinheli that they can be. It’s always an occasion to play in a cup final but to be in two this season is a big achievement and we are relishing the challenges that lie ahead.

“Heads down and work hard and we will see what comes of it.”
