Sunday’s treble against the champions is not the first headline-making hat-trick of Wrexham star Abbie Iddenden’s career

She’s the talk of the Adran Premier after her stunning three goals for Wrexham at the weekend – but Sunday’s terrific treble was not the first very special hat-trick of Abbie Iddenden’s career.

And neither was it the first time she has broken a Cardiff team’s hearts!

Back in 2018, the then 17-year-old set a Stoke City club record when she found the net three times in under five minutes.

Abbie came on as a second half substitute for Stoke Reserves away to Cardiff City and made a spectacular impact, bagging a trio of goals between the 86th and 91st minutes.

Stoke were just 1-0 ahead when Abbie took the field. She hit the post before setting up her team’s second goal for Shannon Garner.

That was nothing compared to what was to come from Abbie though and she scored her first goal of the afternoon in the 86th minute.

Abbie’s second moments later saw her run onto a ball over the Cardiff defence before firing home.

Roisin Kivel made it 5-0 before Abbie completed the fastest hat-trick in the Potteries club’s history.

Just four minutes and 43 seconds after scoring her first goal, the winger hit a superb shot into the top corner.

Abbie began her senior career at Stoke City back in 2016-17, making 10 first team appearances for the FA Women’s National League side.

She then spent four years out in America, earning a scholarship at Limestone University, South Carolina.

Abbie returned to Stoke in 2022-23, featuring mainly for the reserve and development teams before joining Wrexham at the start of the present season.

She is the current top scorer in the Adran Premier Championship after Sunday’s magnificent hat-trick in a 4-2 win over champions Cardiff City at Central Park, Denbigh.

Abbie has netted 16 goals in all this season, the same number as celebrated strike partner Ava Suckley.
