Happy birthday Abbie Iddenden – one half of Wrexham’s star goal-getting duo this term.

Since teaming up with Ava Suckley at the start of 2024-25, the pair have netted just one short of 30 goals for Steve Dale’s side, who are in the Adran Premier top four for a second successive campaign.

Born in Nantwich on April 3, 2000, Abbie is 25 today.

A strong, skilful forward player, she has netted 13 goals in 22 appearances for the Red Dragons so far this term.

Abbie has scored in each of her last four matches and chalked up eight goals in seven appearances since mid-February.

Powerful on the ball with a great ability to both make and take goal chances, it is the chemistry with Suckley that have made them both such important players to the North Wales flag-bearers.

Abbie began her senior career at Stoke City back in 2016-17, making 10 first team appearances for the FA Women’s National League side, playing alongside such talents as Ashleigh Hayes, Hannah Keryakoplis and Meg Bowyer.

She has also previously played out in America, earning a four-year scholarship at Limestone University.

Abbie was back at Stoke in 2022-23 and 2023-24, representing the reserve and development sides. Steve Dale was delighted to sign her for Wrexham last summer.

Abbie’s goals have played a major part in Wrexham achieving top four Championship status in Wales’ number one division this season, and she has also been a chief driving force in the Red Dragons’ progress to the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Final.

In the semi-finals, she was selected as the Player of the Round.

The Red Dragons won 4-0 against Pontypridd United at Latham Park to book their spot in the final for the second consecutive season.

Abbie was instrumental in the victory, scoring the first and fourth goals with a header from Carra Jones’ cross and a close-range tap in. She also registered an assist as she cut the ball back for Brooke Cairns to score.

Alongside the prolific Suckley, Abbie has made a huge impression in her debut season in Welsh football.

Happy birthday and best wishes for the cup final!
