GENERO ADRAN NORTH REPORTS – MARCH 23

CPDM Y Felinheli 10 (R Davies 14 & 45+1, Tugwell-Allsup 44 & 89, E Williams 17, Fflur Williams 30 & 39, Midwinter 62, Wellings 69, E Jones 74)
NFA 0

Ten goals scored, 10 games without defeat for Felinheli who next face the toughest challenge of all as they bid to end the season in third place.

Felin’s final league match is on April 6 away to champions Connah’s Quay Nomads, who will be going all out to complete a perfect set of 14 straight wins in Genero Adran North.

In the penultimate game of their league campaign, the Cae Seilo side hosted NFA looking to carry on their impressive performances of late.

Opportunities came knocking for youngsters Elsi Williams and Rubie Davies to impress from the start with manager Aaron Jones-Evans giving them both the nod.

It didn’t take long for Davies to get Felin off the mark. Strike partner Fflur Williams played an accurate through ball with Davies calmly slotting home on the quarter hour mark.

A few minutes later it was two, this time 16-year-old Elsi Williams with an equal finish into the bottom corner from a well-worked passage of play with Ellie Jones providing the assist.

Felinheli were in total control with their opponents not really offering a threat going forward due to relentless home pressure. The hosts missed a hatful of chances with the crossbar and post coming to the visitors’ aid.

Fflur Williams will not score a simpler goal for Felinheli

It was inevitable a third would come but it emerged through a goalkeeping mistake, NFA’s No1 fumbled with the ball at her feet leaving Fflur Williams clear with an open net to make it 3-0.

NFA’s regular keeper Courtney Ingram, operating outfield, was a bit too heavy with her tackling and was shown a yellow card in the 32nd minute. Four minutes later she was given her marching orders by the official for a cynical tackle from behind – NFA with a now bigger mountain to climb for the next hour.

It was made worse a few minutes later when Felinheli got their fourth. Llio Henshaw with a pinpoint ball over the top found Fflur Williams to notch her second of the game.

Five minutes later it was 5-0, this time Williams assisting Jenna Tugwell-Allsup who finished expertly.

Felinheli weren’t done with the half just yet, as on the stroke of half time youngster Rubie Davies ran onto a Jordanne Greenough through ball and tucked it away to make it 6-0 at the break.

The second half started better for NFA who to their credit tried their best to create and play football the right way keeping the score respectable.

Jones-Evans made changes 10 minutes into the second half, both Davies and Williams making way for the returning Katie Midwinter and Kyla Cain.

Felinheli were pushing for a seventh, and it only took seven minutes for Midwinter to get in on the act.

There was a lovely lay off from Tugwell-Allsup, who had been working tirelessly up top, and with Midwinter 25 yards out she found the top corner in trademark fashion.

Midwinter took control of the midfield in the last 25 minutes finding pockets of space and pulling the strings.

Sara Baines came on for Fflur Williams who had chance after chance to get her hat-trick but it wasn’t meant to be. With Greenough now deployed as a striker Felin were hurting NFA with their pace up top.

It was Tugwell-Allsup who unlocked the defence for the eighth, twisting and turning and finding Hana Wellings who rocketed her effort into the top corner from all of 25 yards out, nothing less than she deserved after a glittering performance in the middle of the park.

Two more goals came for Felinheli with Midwinter assisting both, one for Ellie Jones who made a great run down the right and fired her shot into the roof of the net from just inside the box and the other for Tugwell-Allsup who smartly netted from a tight angle.

NFA defend a corner

Winning manager Jones-Evans said: “Very happy with Rubie and Elsi today, they’ve both worked so hard throughout the season to get up to the level we desire and now the fruits of their labour is coming through, happy for them to get on the scoresheet. It was nice to have Katie back in the side, she has bags of quality and she will help us with the important games we have coming up.

“Whether it’s 1-0 or 10-0 it doesn’t matter to us as we are focused on keeping this momentum going into the business end of the season. We need to stay focused and keep working, the season isn’t over yet and we have some important games coming up.

“It’s always nice for players to show what they can do, especially with how hard this group has worked this season, I’m happy for them and proud of them all.

“Again, it’s heads down, today has passed and we keep working.”

Llanfair United 0 Connah’s Quay Nomads 1

Thirteen out of 13 for the runaway champions, who have one game left as they aim to complete a perfect set of 14 straight victories.

Nomads have won most games comfortably – although they did need very late goals to grab victories over Felinheli and Flint Town United during this campaign.

And Sunday brought a third tight contest for Jordan Parry’s side, away to runners-up Llanfair United who pushed the champions hard as expected.

Entering the final 10 minutes, it looked like the winning streak may be coming to an end, but this is Nomads and they do what champions do – play till the end.

And in the 82nd minute Anna Marsh made it five goals in her last four games as she delivered what turned out to be the decider.

Nomads were unfortunate to lose captain and top-scorer Polly Wild-McGregor through injury in the pre-match warm-up, but the visitors still managed to do what they do best – win.
