Happy 26th birthday to Adam Hold – one of North Wales football’s players of the season so far.

Born on February 24, 1999, wide attacker Adam has been a huge success since joining Penmaenmawr Phoenix at the start of 2024-25.

He has already compiled his best goals total in a single season – 22 in 22 games – and been a key figure as Phoenix have stayed undefeated in the tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division, as well as reaching the NWCFA Intermediate Cup Final and Cookson Cup semis.

Adam has notched three hat-tricks in his last four matches, including back-to-back trebles versus Llandyrnog United and Glan Conwy.

The former Welsh Colleges player began his senior football career as a teenager with Llandudno Junction and Conwy Borough during the 2016-17 season.

In 2017-18 he signed for Llandudno Albion and began a memorable five-season association with the club.

Between his debut campaign and 2022-23, when Albion sadly disbanded, Adam netted a total of 42 goals, finishing top-scorer for the club with 15 in that final season.

He also had a very productive spell around that time with all-conquering Rhyl and District Sunday League side FC Mally of Llandudno Junction.

At the start of 2023-24, Adam joined CPD Y Rhyl 1879, scoring eight goals in 21 matches – netting in each round of the FAW Amateur Trophy the Lilywhites played in – before returning to Conwy in February where he saw out the campaign.

This season has seen Adam really hit the spotlight at ambitious Penmaenmawr Phoenix, where he enjoys a goal-a-game ratio so far.

September 2024 delivered a major highlight in Adam’s career when he was named Welsh Cup Player of the Round in Phoenix’s win over tier 3 CPD Pwllheli in qualifying round two.

He scored twice and also grabbed an assist as his side triumphed 5-2 against Ardal North West outfit Pwll to reach round one for the first time in nine years.

Adam’s first goal was a scissor kick and the second a sensational overhead effort – no ordinary double.

A month after winning that award came a bigger high for the player – the birth of his baby daughter.

On October 7, Myah Louise Hold was welcomed into the world by overjoyed parents Adam and Ebony.

Hoping that today is a very special day in the Hold household!
