What was expected to be one of the closest quarter-final ties turned out anything but as Trearddur Bay stormed into the FAW Amateur Trophy last four with a magnificent seven-goal show at Maes Cynlas.
Fifth in Ardal North West hosted fourth in Ardal North East, with visitors Brickfield on an impressive run of 12 unbeaten games stretching back to October.
Bay, meanwhile, were coming off the back of a disappointing 1-0 league defeat at NFA seven days earlier.
There was a perfect start for the hosts, some terrific hold up play from Joe Chaplin resulted in him finding Toby Jones in the box. Jones turned his man and lashed into the top corner with barely a minute on the clock.
The lead was doubled just nine minutes later. A corner only half cleared by Brickfield fell on the volley to Sean McCaffery, the midfielder making no mistake from 20 yards.
Despite a disappointing start the visitors started to settle and play some nice football through the thirds, but without really troubling the Bay defence.
On 35 minutes, a long ball from Paul Pritchard in goal was latched onto by Josh Stanley-Williams, who slotted home the third, which seemed to knock the wind out of Brickfield.
Recent signing Stanley-Williams fired home another just before the break thanks to a Jones assist.
Half Time: Trearddur Bay 4-0 Brickfield
It was Stanley-Williams who turned provider in the second half. On 55 minutes he played a great ball into the 6 yard box and Chaplin couldn’t miss from close range. This now felt like the game was beyond Brickfield and Chaplin made sure of that just a minute later after yet another Jones assist.
Both sides made changes on the hour mark which opened up some gaps. Nathan Jones provided a consolation goal for his side on 79 minutes and although his team-mates rushed the ball back to the halfway line deep down they must have known there was too much to do.
Ben Dawson then caught Pritchard off his line and netted from 40 yards to make it 6-2 in stoppage time.
The last word fittingly went to the Beach Boys. Toby Jones added a superb seventh for the Bay direct from a free kick.
Bay are expected to discover their semi-final opponents this week. Also through to the last four are Port Talbot Town and Penygraig United from South Wales. Llanrwst United versus Goytre was postponed, so there still might be two North Walians in the semis.
Good to see two Trearddur Bay Development players stepping up to the squad on Saturday, with one starting. Finally a mention for Harri Jones, great to see him back on the pitch after a lengthy spell out with injury.
Trearddur Bay: Paul Pritchard; Casey Gregg, Tom Taylor (Harri Jones 60), Anthony Marshall, Ryan Pryce; Sean McCaffery, Dewi Thomas, Toby Jones, Lennon Owen (Jac Giles 60); Joe Chaplin, Josh Stanley-Williams.
