JD CYMRU NORTH – FEBRUARY 15

Caersws 1 Colwyn Bay 2

Dan Atkins hit a late winner deep into added time which put the Seagulls top of the JD Cymru North table.

Caersws took the lead on 71 minutes, but Sol Forde tapped in an equaliser on 78 before recent signing Atkins snatched the decider with 94 on the clock.

With Airbus in Welsh Cup action, Colwyn Bay go two points clear at the top of the table – although the Wingmakers do now have a game in hand.

Bay had chances in the first half at the Recreation Ground in Powys, but Josh Carey shot too close to the keeper when running in on goal, Cai Owen fired just over the bar from the edge of the area and Craig Lindfield saw a goal-bound effort blocked.

Jamie Cumming curled just wide after a good run into the box and saw a left-footed strike miss the target, while Sam Hart headed over the bar.

In the second half Lindfield missed a big chance after a great cross by Carey and Cumming sent a looping header just wide, before Caersws stunned the visitors by taking the lead through Rhys Hesden.

The Seagulls responded well and Forde equalised when a ball into the box evaded everyone and left the scorer with an easy finish.

Bay then had a big shout for a penalty waved away by the referee and Jay Owen shot narrowly over the bar.

However, second half substitute Atkins popped up with that late, late winner to net all three points.

Gresford made it back-to-back league wins with a victory over bottom side Llay.

In the sixth minute, Athletic’s Charlie Mann hit the target from a free-kick, but his effort was punched away by Llay keeper Henry Green.

Toby Gallagher-Keenan did well to nick the ball away from Green on 17, but his shot towards the open net was blocked by a defender and hit the crossbar.

Paul Johnson also rattled the bar for the visitors with 39 gone.

In the 42nd minute, Gresford were awarded a penalty after Haci Ozlu was brought down in the box by Green. Ozlu netted from the spot to break the deadlock.

Llay were far from finished and forced Lewis Dutton to make a spectacular save in the 68th minute which prevented an equaliser.

Then, in the 70th minute, Ozlu bagged his second to double the lead.

Johnson added a third goal with a superb turn and finish in the 74th minute.

Welfare pulled one back after 78 through Jon Collo via a header.

Just before the end, Ozlu was again fouled in the box and earned a penalty for the Colliers. This time the striker was denied by Green’s save.

A good win moved Athletic six points clear of the relegation zone.

Penrhyncoch 0 Buckley Town 0

Goalless at Cae Baker, where Penrhyncoch’s Elliot Jones was dismissed for a second yellow with 91 minutes played.

Buckley remain in fourth spot, while Penrhyn sit 13th.
