Guess who celebrates their 21st birthday tomorrow?

Daisy Hughes (stripes) dazzles for Flint

Flint Town United left winger Daisy Hughes celebrates a very special birthday this week.

Born on February 7, 2004, Daisy reaches the age of 21 tomorrow (Friday).

One of three sisters who play for Flint, alongside elder sibling Chloe and younger team-mate Rosie, Daisy has been a Silkwoman since the team formed in 2022-23.

And she is a very important part of the side’s history as she scored twice in FTU’s first-ever game – a 3-0 win over Llanfairfechan Town on September 18, 2022.

The honour of netting the first goal went to Leah Phelps, but Daisy instantly made her mark as the first Flint player to score more than once in a match.

Daisy went on to notch six goals in her debut season as the Silkies found their feet in the North Wales Women’s League.

The team finished up ninth out of 12 teams with six wins, a draw and 15 defeats.

Daisy added further strikes against Pwllheli and Llanfairfechan, but her finest hour of 2022-23 was probably scoring two in a 3-2 victory at NFA, who finished fourth but ended up promoted.

The following season saw Flint improve dramatically as they won the North Wales League East title with a perfect record of 12 straight wins.

Daisy knocked in eight goals, three against both Bellevue and Welshpool, plus a double versus Denbigh Town.

Flint were promoted to the tier 2 Genero Adran North in just their second season since forming.

Unfortunately, Daisy missed the start of the current 2024-25 season through injury, not appearing until coming on as a substitute in a 5-0 home win over NFA in November.

She has featured in five games since, including a first start of the season at Felinheli on February 2.

Daisy has made 44 appearances for Flint, scoring 14 goals; Rosie has made 52 appearances and Chloe, who was first to reach 50 for the team, 51.

Flint have adjusted well to life in tier 2 since their promotion and Daisy is now also beginning to get back into her stride.

Happy birthday dazzler – you share it with Charles Dickens, comedian Chris Rock and Louisa Lytton (Ruby Allen off Eastenders) !!!!!
