Flint rattled up their biggest ever cup win in a ruthless display of finishing at the Essity Stadium on Sunday.
The Adran North hosts were far too strong for Tier 3 North East Wales League side Airbus, the Silkwomen making it five straight wins to date this season.
Here is how the goals went in on Sunday:
Millie O’Connor made a run through the whole of midfield, taking on two players. She tried to put a through ball into Bella Riley on the left but it was intercepted by Ava Roberts. Laura Williams then squared to SHANNON HOBBS, who found the net.
Riley intercepted the ball from Airbus’ back line, passed to Kelsey Davies, who played it into the space that Williams was running into towards the box. LAURA WILLIAMS travelled well with the ball and slotted it into the bottom right.
Hobbs received the ball at the halfway line and played it into space down the right wing for Davies to run onto. Davies squared to Williams, who hit it first time but keeper Sian Smith saved. SHANNON HOBBS got the rebound on the edge of the box and hit it straight past the defenders and keeper into the bottom left corner.
Williams worked hard to win the ball from an Airbus throw and pass to Hobbs. The striker found KELSEY DAVIES, who made a run into the box and hit it across goal for her fourth net-finder in three appearances since joining from Llandudno..
Williams received the ball from POTM Beth Davies. Williams’ unbelievable turn with the ball saw her beat her player and release Riley down the left wing. BELLA RILEY produced a fantastic run, past the defenders, knocked it round the keeper who came out the box and finished into the open goal.
O’Connor delivered a brilliant ball to Davies on the right wing. Davies beat her opponent for pace and crossed to BELLA RILEY, who struck the ball into the back of the net.
O’Connor worked hard in midfield again to take the ball from Airbus and find Riley on the left who crossed the ball to Davies. She turned her back to the goal and set up LAURA WILLIAMS, who scored an unbelievable goal, chipping the defensive line and the keeper. That was Williams’ seventh goal in four outings since signing for the Silkwomen in the summer.
SHANNON HOBBS completed her first hat-trick for Flint and made it five goals in two matches this season.
Davies provided her fourth assist of the match to add to her goal. She merits special praise for everything she contributed to create chances and goals. She’s made a massive difference to the team already. Davies knocked the ball to Hobbs, who took it on the right edge of the box, put it on her left foot and struck it over the keeper into far left of the net – fantastic finish.
Substitutes Becca Eagles and Ruby Hastings immediately made an impact. Eagles headed the ball down from an Airbus throw-in, into Becca Hughes feet and she gave a return pass, Eagles then played a great ball through the middle for Hastings to run onto. RUBY HASTINGS hit it first time straight over the keeper who was tracking backwards into the net but couldn’t get to it.
Llinos Hughes crossed to Daisy Hughes in the box. Her attempt was stopped by the keeper and fell to Neve Richards, who sets player manager BECCA EAGLES up perfectly to beat the keeper with a left-foot chip.
Becca Hughes put the ball into good space for DAISY HUGHES, who hit it first time to get the 11th and final goal.
