Happy birthday Nomads striker Phoebe Ellis – 18 today!

Phoebe celebrates a goal from last season for Connah’s Quay Nomads

Happy birthday to talented youngster Phoebe Ellis – 18 today.

Born on February 1, 2007, Phoebe has been a key player this season for a Connah’s Quay Nomads side currently top of the tier 2 Genero Adran North table with eight straight wins.

She has netted seven goals this term, adding to her 15 of last, when she had to endure time out through injury after a flying start.

Phoebe was only six when she started playing football. Her first team was Kinmel Bay boys and then, after that it was Towyn Rangers boys, following in the footsteps of her brother Kie, a prolific scorer over the years for the likes of Kinmel Bay and Rhyl 1879.

In 2021-22, Phoebe was part of the brilliant Penrhyn Bay side which reached the FAW Under-16 Girls Cup Final, where they lost 3-1 to a very strong Cardiff City Women outfit.

Alongside Phoebe in that team were the likes of Polly Wild-McGregor, now captain of Connah’s Quay, Erin Doran, a Genero Adran North title winner with Llandudno and Alys Davis, now with CPDM Bangor.

Penrhyn Bay also won the North Wales Under-16 League title and league cup that season.

The following season saw Phoebe join Connah’s Quay Nomads, where she first made her mark in the under-19 team, scoring in each of her first five games.

She made her first team debut in a 3-2 Genero Adran North win at Llanfair United on February 5, 2023, aged 16.

Phoebe’s first goal for the senior side came in the 2023 NEWFA Challenge Cup Final, where Nomads defeated Airbus UK Broughton 5-0.

At the start of the 2023-24 season, Phoebe was on fire, netting seven goals in her opening five first team matches.

She is performing well in front of goal this season, having scored in Quay’s last two victories over NFA and Flint Town United.

To date, Phoebe has made 34 first team appearances for Nomads in all competitions, scoring 23 goals.

While a major figure in the first team, she has also continued to score impressively for the under-19s when called upon.

At just 18, she is a tremendous prospect and her next target is sure to be helping Nomads win their first league title this season.

Happy birthday Phoebe!
