Let’s check out the Grassroots North Wales dynamic dozen of 2024-25

Young Wrexham area star Ryan Jakovlevs

Earlier in the season, we chose 12 players to watch in North Wales senior football during 2024-25.

Let’s do a progress check on our selections…..

Richard Hillier-Evans (Rhos United)

His eight clean sheets in 14 league appearances has done as much to keep Rhos top of the North Wales Coast East Division One table as the 67 goals they have amassed at the other end.
Just 10 league goals conceded in all across those 14 games and his team is still unbeaten.

James Stevens (CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Has made 22 appearances for the Ardal North West leaders but been used mainly as a substitute in recent times.
A player of his talent could still have a big role to play as the Lilywhites’ league title bid gathers momentum towards the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Mason Blackwell-Jones (Bangor 1876)

With nine goals in 22 appearances for Bangor this season, Mason has been one of the team’s most consistent players.
Although 1876 are without a win in their last seven matches, Mason has given his all in every game and can be relied upon to keep doing so.

Jenson Wold (Bow FC)

Young talent has showed up well for both the first team and development side this season, with five goals in 19 matches for the club.
Bow’s form has dipped a bit in recent weeks, but they are not losing by many and still have plenty to offer with good youngsters like Jenson in the mix.

Jacob Jones (Kinmel Bay)

With 24 goals in 13 games for Kinmel Bay’s Development side, Jacob is one of the success stories of the season on the North Wales coast.
Still just 19, Jacob has also had opportunities to shine for the first team too and let no-one down.

Pascal Gomez (Connah’s Quay Town)

With 10 goals in 24 outings, lively front man Pascal has been one of the key men in Connah’s Quay Town’s encouraging debut season at tier 3.
Has not scored in his last nine matches – apart from in penalty shootouts – so he will be looking to improve on that over the rest of the season.

Andy Vale (Brickfield Rangers)

Having netted 24 goals in 25 matches, Andy will no doubt be a vital figure as Brickfield go all out to grab some end-of-season trophies.
Has helped Bricky reach the FAW Trophy quarter-finals and stay within the Ardal North East top 5 positions.

Elis Williams (CPD Y Felinheli)

Has featured mainly on the subs bench in recent weeks, but still remains one of tier 3’s brightest young talents with 15 goals in 19 games for the Cae Seilo outfit.

Owen Herbert (NFA)

This 18-year-old dazzler has been involved in all 21 of NFA’s Ardal North West matches this season.
He recently scored his first goal for the senior XI, who continue to perform so well in their debut campaign at tier 3 level.
Owen has also featured on the scoresheet for the under-23 side.

Ryan Jakovlevs (FC Queen’s Park)

Seventeen-year-old hot prospect joined FC Queen’s Park from disbanded Plas Madoc in November and has scored six goals in five appearances for his new club.
Former Cefn United youth star Ryan bagged a magnificent 26 goals in 15 matches for Plas in their 2023-24 North East Wales League Championship Division title-winning season.
One to watch in the coming months.

Noa Hughes (Bethesda Athletic)

With 26 goals in 23 appearances for Bethesda this season, Noa is one of the highest ranked players in tier 4.
Aged just 19, he has notched 53 goals in 115 matches for Pesda and is helping guide them towards the North Wales Coast West Premier Division title.

Calum Thomas (CPD Gaerwen)

Tremendous 17-year-old talent has pocketed 18 goals in 19 matches for Gaerwen this term and found the net in each of his last five games.
One of so many young dynamos emerging on the isle of Anglesey at present.
