NORTH WALES COAST EAST FOOTBALL LEAGUE – JANUARY 4

Premier Division

CPD Llansannan 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 4

Unbeaten Penmaenmawr began 2025 in grand style with a 4-1 victory at fellow high-riders Llansannan, who always provide tough opposition.
Phoenix top marksman Daniel Williams found himself in on goal in the second minute, rounding the keeper and shooting, but home captain Robert Hurst managed to recover and block the ball on the line.
Llansannan had their attacking moments, Jack Davies going closest but Elliot Jarvis in the Penmaenmawr goal kept the score all-square.
Adam Hold missed narrowly when getting on the end of a James Hobson free kick after half an hour.
The deadlock was broken in the 45th minute when Pen’s Alex Brownhill headed in from close range from a Hold corner.
The second half started with the home team coming out much more aggressively. A heavy challenge from Jack Davies resulted in a serious injury to Phoenix defender Mike Williams.
Pen matched the fire of the home team and continued to play some impressive football.
Constant pressure on Llansannan’s back-line paid off for the visitors in the 67th minute when Hold broke the back-line from a Logan Williams pass, beat a couple of defenders and applied the finish.
In the 73rd minute it was Hold again to make it 3-0 when he was unmarked at the back post and was picked out by team mate Daniel Williams.
Leon Gierke scored a consolation goal for the home side in the 84th minute via a deflected free kick from the edge of the box.
Goalkeeper Jarvis’ twin brother Ben rounded off the scoring in the 94th minute.
From a great counter attack, Daniel Williams found Jarvis at the back stick and the midfielder buried the ball into the bottom corner.
MOTM: Phoenix – Ian Pattinson; Llansannan – Ben Allis

Mochdre Sports 3 Llandudno Amateurs 0

A good win against a decent Amateurs side saw Mochdre remain top of the Premier.
First half goals from Niall Owen, Marcus Breese and Josh Grimshaw, and a solid defensive performance in the second period, were enough to earn the three points.
New signing Carwyn McFadden came off the bench to make an impressive debut following his signing from CPD Bro Cernyw.

Glan Conwy 2 CPD Bro Cernyw 1

Substitute Luke Snape marked his return to Glan Conwy from a spell at Llanrwst United with an 86th minute winning goal at Y Clwb-Cae Ffwt on Saturday.
The home side took a 36th minute lead through a great finish from Dion Lloyd, Mezz Knight with the assist.
In the second half, Glan pressed for a second goal, but a well-drilled Bro defence held firm.
With nine minutes left, Dan Gilbert scored a somewhat controversial equaliser for the visitors.
Glan kept pushing, however, and Snape bagged that late winner with the help of Kacper Spirodowicz.
The hosts finished with nine men after Bobby McElrea received a straight red and Knight followed for a second yellow, but Glan managed to hold on for the victory.

Llandudno Junction 0 CPD Cerrigydrudion 4

Llion Thomas put Cerrig ahead after 11 minutes before a Tomos Watkin-Jones double on 12 and 27 made it 3-0 at half time.
Watkin-Jones completed his hat-trick on 72 minutes.

Llandyrnog United 1 CPD Y Glannau 2

Tom Jones grabbed a deciding goal 11 minutes into added time for second-place Y Glannau.
It was tough going on bottom side Llandyrnog, who worked so hard to pick up some reward at Cae Nant.
Jared Jones handed Dyrny a 64th minute lead which they held until the 85th, when Tom Jones equalised.
Jones added the winner, while Neil Brown was shown a late red card for the hosts.

Llanfairfechan Town 2 Kinmel Bay 3

Jordan Bellham, Connor Morris and Sean Sheridan’s 79th minute clincher secured three hard-earned points for Kinmel Bay.
Thomas Croston and Cyril Carey replied for the hosts, who gave it everything across the 90,

Division One

Penrhyn Bay 4 Prestatyn Sports 5

Sixteen-year-old substitute Toby Jones grabbed a 93rd minute winner in a nine-goal thriller which saw joint leaders Sports produce a phenomenal comeback to narrowly take the honours.
It was Jones’ second goal of the match for the visitors, whose others came via Kris Owen, who made it 1-0, Ashley Garrett and skipper Alex Hall.
Yet Penrhyn Bay were 4-1 up at half time courtesy of goals from Aaron Gregson (2), Stan Farrell and Gabriel George.
Sports were still three goals behind until the hour, when Hall scored and the picture altered dramatically.

CPD Henllan 2 Llysfaen 2

Henllan recovered from two goals down to force a draw at Top Park.
Goals from Lee Fallas on 43 minutes and Josh Williams after 68 put Llysfaen seemingly in command, but Alex Thomas and sub Steffan Jones hit back to earn the hosts a point.

Llandudno Swifts 2 Rhos United 4

Leaders Rhos made it 12 unbeaten after prevailing in a hard contest at Swifts.
This match was reported on in detail by Grassroots North Wales on Monday.
