SATURDAY MATCH PREVIEWS – DECEMBER 28

JD CYMRU NORTH

Three games take place in the Cymru North on Saturday and the pick of the trio has to be the Flintshire derby between Mold Alexandra and Flint Mountain at Alyn Park.

Mold have slipped down to seventh after a four-match winless run and have not played a league fixture in three weeks.

Fifth-place Mountain have not seen league action in four weeks, but have won their last two.

Good clash in the making and there could be just a goal in it come the final whistle.

Caersws will aim for a positive response to back-to-back losses at Airbus when they welcome Gresford Athletic to the Recreation Ground.

Athletic beat Prestatyn Town 6-2 last time out, but are still desperate for points as they lie third from bottom.

Guilsfield and Penrhyncoch have a quick rematch on the agenda at Clos Mytton. The teams drew 1-1 at Cae Baker two weeks ago and it could well end up a point apiece again.

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST

What a cracker is in store at Cae Marian where second-place Dolgellau Athletic host leaders Bow Street.

This pair drew 2-2 at Park Avenue back in August and it might be equally close this time around.

Bow will go all out to extinguish the memory of their last game, which brought a shock 2-0 home loss at the hands of Llandrindod Wells.

Brickfield Rangers will be favourites to beat visitors Chirk AAA, but Llandrindod Wells versus Builth Wells is very hard to call and could produce a draw.

Llanfair United versus Llansantffraid looks an interesting one as both are coming off the back of tremendous wins despite struggling for most of the campaign.

Llangollen Town v Cefn Albion is another which could go either way, and the same is true of Llanidloes Town v Rhos Aelwyd, two teams straining for some consistency.

Penycae face a difficult test at home to points-seeking Llanuwchllyn, while on their best form, Radnor Valley have what it takes to give third-place Kerry, who slumped 1-0 at home to Llanfair in their last outing, a stern examination.

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST

Leaders Porthmadog might find it tricky in the Llyn Peninsula derby at Pwllheli, but how will the home side react to last weekend’s stunning 8-2 loss at previously winless Menai Bridge?

Rhyl 1879 are still unbeaten under new manager Paul Moore, but they will need to be wary of a St Asaph City outfit which won well at Trearddur Bay recently and will be out for a local scalp.

Connah’s Quay Town entertain Nantlle Vale, Llannefydd host struggling Conwy Borough, while Llanrwst United against Corwen may finish up very close. Three home wins would not be a surprise.

Trearddur Bay will seek revenge after losing in league and Welsh Cup to Holyhead Hotspur this season.

Hotspur will be anxious to bounce back from their recent home loss to island rivals Llangefni.

NFA lost their unbeaten home record to Rhyl in their last encounter, but they are more than capable of turning the tide at Y Felinheli.
