JD CYMRU NORTH REPORTS – DECEMBER 26

Airbus UK Broughton 3 (Cooke 19, N Williams 60, Eyre pen 90+1)
Buckley Town 2 (Moore 41 & 88)

The Wingmakers were ‘Walking in the Eyre’ after a stoppage time winner maintained their seven-point lead at the summit.
Jake Eyre was the man who converted the 91st minute penalty which saw off the great challenge of Buckley.
Airbus broke the deadlock on 19 minutes. George Peers’ quick free kick found right-back Tyler McManus and he picked out Kaiden Cooke, whose shot from outside the box wrong-footed Ryan Goldston as it found the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
Soon after, Keighan Jones made a great save to deny Buckley an immediate equaliser.
In the 41st minute, Buckley were back on level terms when they were awarded a penalty for a pull back by McManus.
Daniel Holland’s kick was saved by Keighan Jones, but the rebound was converted by Max Moore.
Town went close to grabbing the lead before the break, which arrived with a 1-1 scoreline.
Airbus started the second half much brighter, Danny Warren denied when Goldston stood big to deny the striker.
A brilliant corner from Jordan Evans followed met by Josh Stevenson, but the effort was saved once again by Goldston.
It was a busy 10 minutes for Goldston, who next thwarted a shot from Jordan Evans.
After all that pressure, Airbus finally had their breakthrough. Stevenson’s header crashed off the bar and was cleared by the Buckley defence. McManus picked up the clearance and delivered the ball back into the Buckley penalty box. Warren did well to control and set up Nathan Williams, whose fabulous strike made it 2-1..
Town rallied and from a corner there was mayhem in the Airbus penalty area, Moore’s final shot pushed around the post by Jones.
With two minutes remaining of the 90, Buckley found an equaliser when Moore collected the ball in the penalty area, turned and sent a shot which dipped over Jones.
One minute into added time came the decider. Eyre was taken down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
Eyre stepped up to take the penalty and blasted the ball down the middle and high to make it 3-2.
Three huge points for the Wingmakers, who made it nine straight league victories.

Holywell Town 2 (McGilloway 58, Murray 83)
Llay Welfare 0

Great action as Holywell (stripes) threaten

Two second half goals ensured Holywell completed a fourth win over Llay Welfare this season.
Before the game there was a minute’s silence held in honour of ardent Wellmen supporter, the late Alan Roberts.
Alan’s sons James and Anthony were present with the team in the mark of respect.
Llay threatened first in the fifth minute when a Reuben Lima Teixeira effort landed on the roof of the net.
In the 17th minute, Holywell’s Danny Andrews saw his strike deflected for a corner.
Mitchell Williams rattled the bar for Welly before Jamie Breese went close for the hosts. Half time: 0-0.
Top-scorer Breese was a danger early in the second half, heading just wide before his attempt from an angle was cleared off the line by Max Peate.

Brady McGilloway (stripes) opened the scoring for Holywell

Morgan Murray was denied by former Town stopper Mike Platt before the deadlock was finally broken on 58 minutes.
Danny Sullivan delivered a great cross to the far post and Brady McGilloway headed in.
Llay should have equalised soon after but Ethan Davies headed wide of a gaping goal.
It was touch and go before Holywell could finally feel some sense of comfort with seven minutes left, Murray firing home after Breese set him up.

Prestatyn Town 1 (Stead 45)
Llandudno 4 (Boss 13, Stephens 14 & 40, Bennett 48)

Llandudno made it four league wins in succession while Prestatyn slumped to a 12th straight defeat.
The writing was on the wall for the Seasiders after Tudno scored two in a minute courtesy of Alex Boss and Adam Stephens after 13 and 14 respectively.
Stephens struck again on 40 before there was cause for optimism for Prestatyn when James Stead scored from a marvellous free kick on the stroke of half time.
However, three minutes into the second half, Stephens set up Harvey Bennett to make it 4-1 and that was game over.
