North Wales League’s top run scorer for past two seasons signs for Gwersyllt Park

Gwersyllt Park Cricket Club have signed the North Wales League’s leading run-scorer of the past two years for the 2025 campaign.

South African James Du Toit made 809 league runs for Premier League side Denbigh last season and 996 for Division One club Connah’s Quay in 2023.

In a total of 42 league matches, he has compiled 1,805 runs including four centuries and 13 fifties.

Last season he averaged 47.59 for Denbigh and in 2023 it was 55.33 for the Quay.

Gwersyllt Park were promoted to the Premier League in 2024 and thanks to some excellent wins at key stages managed to avoid relegation, finishing third from bottom.

The club said on its X social media account: “GPCC are thrilled to welcome our South African overseas star, James Du Toit, to the team!

“After an incredible season last year, where he amassed a phenomenal 809 runs, we are confident we can reach new heights and make this a season to remember.”

Du Toit is spending the winter starring for Numurkah Youth Club Cricket Club in Victoria, Australia.
