Seven heaven for new East division leaders CPD Merched Henllan

Meet the Henllan table-toppers

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE EAST DIVISION

CPD MERCHED HENLLAN 7 (B Roberts 4, L Williams 2, Fitzgerald)

NORTHOP HALL 0

Merched Henllan went top of the East division with a 7 0 win over Northop Hall at Ysgol Glan Clwyd in a game that was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.

The Shotton-based visitors started brightly, but on 11 minutes Beth Roberts turned her defender and shot low into the bottom corner.

Ten minutes later Roberts again left her marker standing and this time rifled into the top of the net.

Mabli Fitzgerald then got on the scoresheet with a curled effort into the corner,

Henllan missed the chance to make it four when Abby Cattell’s penalty cannoned off the bar.

Minutes later, Lleucu Williams scored from a free kick,

Just before the break Williams put Roberts through for her hat-trick which she coolly obliged.

Half-time: 5-0

Midway through the second half, Williams completed her brace with a thunderous shot just outside the box,

Roberts got her fourth in the last 10 minutes when she chased down a keeper’s clearance and hooked in goal number 27 of the campaign with her left foot.

Northop played some good football but couldn’t break down Henllan’s defence with Siwan Williams, Elin Griffiths, Ella Allen, Magi Pierce and Siwan Lloyd all excellent.

With Lia Evans and Rhian Edwards brilliantly protecting the back four, in a superb team performance sweeper Magi Pierce just shaded player of the match.

The Merched will now head into a winter break with no game till the new year
