Some players are fantastic for their clubs yet rarely seem to make the headlines.
They are the unsung heroes.
In tribute to some of those under the radar stars we at Grassroots North Wales feel don’t get the credit they deserve, here’s a rundown of our unheralded heroines.
Colossal central defender for Llandudno who can also be potent in attack.
Won Genero Adran North titles in 2021-22 and 2023-24 with Llandudno, where she has spent most of her career.
Also had a great 2019-20 season with Connah’s Quay Nomads, helping them reach the Welsh Cup semi-finals and finish unbeaten in North Wales League Division Two.
Has scored in the region of 150 goals for CPD Pwllheli since making her senior debut in 2016-17.
Netting an amazing 38 times in 2017-18, bagging six hat-tricks and notching six in a game twice.
Has been Pwllheli’s top scorer most seasons yet is always humble and unassuming.
Last term she won the North Wales League title with Pwll, scoring a magnificent winning goal in the play-off final against Flint Town United.
Tremendous goalkeeper for Flint Town United in the Genero Adran North.
Formerly with Kinmel Bay, Becky joined Flint when they formed in 2022-23 and has been a virtual ever-present since.
Brave, top-class shot stopper who excelled when the Silkwomen won the North Wales Women’s League East Division last season.
Versatile player who always gives everything in a Denbigh Town shirt.
She netted six goals in the 2022-23 season and was on target twice when Denbigh fought back from 3-0 down to beat neighbours Henllan 4-3 this term.
Has stuck with the team through thick and thin.
Amber is a vet, not a veteran player (she’s only 28) but the type that cares for animals.
Hard-working midfielder who has been a Rhyl 1879 player for the past three seasons.
She has made 41 appearances for the Lilywhites and netted four goals, the most notable being her injury time cracker in a 4-3 victory over Airbus in 2022-23.
Chelsea, 25, formerly played in a strong Northop Hall side where she also grabbed her fair share of goals.
Considering she’s such an awesome defender, very consistent and a great leader, Tash doesn’t get a lot of the attention she deserves.
With Llanystumdwy really hitting form this season, so have Tash’s superb performances run hand-in-hand, her latest achievements including two goals in a 3-2 win over Kinmel Bay.
Tash first made an impact with Bangor City a few seasons back in a great side which included Cerys Gadd and Ceri Lois. She later turned out for Llandudno, had a spell out to become a mum, but is now Llanystumdwy all the way.
Has been a Kinmel Bay player since her toddler days and developed into a first team regular over many loyal seasons.
Georgia IS Kinmel Bay. A magnificent servant on and off the field.
Generally operates as a midfielder who has contributed a few goals over the years and many more assists. Energetic, strong in the tackle, much loved.
Trearddur Bay taliswoman. Tall, ball-playing defender who can operate in many other positions.
Was part of the Caernarfon Town side which won the FAW Girls Cup in 2013-14, while as a senior player she has been a major influence in the development of Trearddur Bay, where dad Ali is the current manager.
Has made 40 appearances for Bay, scoring seven goals, including her first double in a 4-2 victory at Berriew this season.
Inspirational captain and key defender for CPDM Y Felinheli.
She has been a near ever-present since the club entered the tier 2 Genero Adran North in 2021-22, making 66 appearances across all competitions up to the present day.
Also represented the club in their days as CPDM Bethel where she was captain and in 2018-19 won Player of the Season, Players Player and Coach’s Player.
Has been a big influence in a Llangefni Town shirt since the team started in 2021-22 with 76 appearances and 14 goals on her record.
Prolific in the assists department, she attacks hard down the flanks and is always looking to be in the game.
Was part of the 2023 Ynys Môn Island Games squad and is included in the party for Orkney 2025.
Rock-solid young defender who made her debut for CPDM Bangor senior team last season and already has 30 appearances under her belt.
Formerly with Dreigiau Llanfairpwll, a team which has produced so many promising youngsters for Bangor.
Erin was recently included in the Ynys Môn Island Games squad for Orkney 2025 and would welcome offers of sponsorship.
Experienced player with around 50 appearances for Connah’s Quay Nomads.
A good influence on the younger players in the squad and has produced some very useful goals this season.
Formerly Aimee Hopkinson, this consistent defender made the Genero Adran North Team of the Season in 2023-24. Not always in the headlines, but a constantly vital player to Jordan Parry’s side.
