A massive welcome to Flint Town United for Ruby McGilloway!

Ruby McGilloway is Flint’s newest addition

Flint Town United have added another class act to their squad – pacy winger Ruby McGilloway.

The 25-year-old switches to the Silkwomen from NFA and joins Zoe Stopford, Ruby Hastings and Jennifer Haynes as recent additions at the Essity Stadium.

Ruby was mainly a netball player before joining newly-formed Holywell FC Girls and Ladies football team in 2019.

She made history by scoring Holywell’s first-ever goal in the North Wales Women’s League in a 14-1 defeat at Mountain Rangers on September 15, 2019.

Ruby was top-scorer in the Wellwomen’s debut season with four goals, and after 2020-21 was cancelled due to Covid she netted twice more for the team in 2021-22.

Last season saw the winger join NFA, where she notched seven goals and helped the side earn promotion to Tier 2 Genero Adran North.

Now comes a new challenge at Flint, where Ruby is sure to be a popular and much-valued addition. She never stops running during a game and puts in 100 percent effort always.

Ruby will meet up with several former Holywell colleagues at the Essity.

Her brother, Brady McGilloway, is a well-known player for Holywell Town and has also represented Airbus UK Broughton.

As for Ruby, she holds special significance for Grassroots North Wales as her Female Focus interview in 2019 attracted a record number of views for that feature – almost 1,000 – so she’s obviously a very popular person! 😁🌟

On signing for Flint, she said: “I’m excited to join Flint, to be a part of the togetherness they have both on and off the pitch.”

As for a signature tune, there can only be one….

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby (ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya (ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Know what your doing, doing to me? (Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby (ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah) 🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
