Flint earned their first-ever win over Llandudno and moved joint second on points with Llanfair United after a hard-fought victory at Go Goodwins Stadium.
Without a W since November – five matches ago – this was a result the Silkwomen certainly needed.
Two goals in a minute for the visitors at the end of the first half proved crucial.
Flint took a fifth-minute lead when Shannon Hobbs found Beth Roberts, who drilled a shot across goal into the bottom corner.
Tudno levelled on 22 when Seren Kerfoot-Robson’s through ball picked out Gwen Roberts, who fired into the net.
It remained 1-1 until the 44th minute, when Hobbs scored after her high press on Meg Robinson led to a keeper error.
A minute later Becca Eagles found the net with a diving header from a Rosie Hughes corner.
The second half was end-to-end with chances for both sides but just one taken.
And the goal came early for Llandudno, Jasmin Dutton’s 25-yard strike making it 3-2 in the 53rd minute.
This gave the Seasiders a foothold back in the game and set up a thrilling end to the contest.
The rest of the action was very intense, but the scoreline remained unaltered till the final whistle, with Flint missing late opportunities to put the game to bed.
Winning captain Ruby McGilloway said: “Today was a big game which meant a lot to both sides, so it was a good battle the whole way. Nice for us to get the win, we really needed that boost and hopefully we can continue this form for the final few games.”
