Magic Marquis moves to Llangoed – from ‘Pwll to the Puffins!

One of Ynys Môn’s most consistent goalscorers and colourful characters of recent seasons has moved clubs.

Marquis Holland, 28, has joined Llangoed and District from fellow tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One side Llanfairfpwll.

Having previously served Bro Goronwy, Treetops FC, Llannerchymedd and Pentraeth, Marquis joined Llanfairpwll in 2021-22.

Over three productive seasons, he netted an outstanding 52 goals in 85 appearances for the Maes Eilian club.

Twice appearing in the top 10 league scorers list for his division, Marquis pocketed 17 goals in 2021-22, 21 in 2022-23 and 14 last season.

This term he had scored once in five games before deciding on a switch to Llangoed, where his great team ethic and lively personality will quickly win him friends.

Marquis has been a key figure in Llanfairpwll’s tremendous cup runs of recent times, including last season’s reaching of the NWCFA Junior Cup Final, which they cruelly did not get to play due to a dispute between semi-finalists Y Glannau and Bow FC not being resolved in time.

Llanfair have also featured in some terrific cup giant-killings during Marquis’ time at the club, including epic victories against Llansantffraid Village, NFA and Talysarn Celts in the FAW Amateur Trophy.

Marquis’ final record as a Llanfairpwll player is 53 goals in 90 matches and he will always be remembered as a top player with the club, especially his up front partnership with Jay Finter.
