The weather was almost perfect on Septemner 21 as nearly 300 mixed ability club and social runners took part in the Conwy Parkrun, with many athletes returning to this event following injury, illness, or other important races.
Veteran track athlete Steve Gardner from North Wales Road Runners turned his hand to the parkrun after setting records in recent national and international overseas championship events, and he led home a team of 14 club colleagues to finish in 5th place overall in 19 minutes and 31 seconds, and he also won his VW60 age cat.
James Jones continued to impress with a new course PB of 20.17 in 7th place and 2nd SM30, with Stuart Culverhouse only one place and eight seconds behind and 1st VM50 in 20.25.
Steve Bozier ran well despite battling with injury in 14th place in 20.56, and won his VM45 cat, with Steve Mason 18th and 2nd VM50 in 21.06, and newcomer Paul Aubert 23rd in 21.43.
Youngster Joe Culverhouse won his JM11-14 category after returning to parkrun following his football adventures and a recent injury problem. He ran well in 40th place in 23.44.
Jamie Tharme was another returnee, finishing 48th in 24.08, with Sion Thomas 56th in 24.35, and Hannah Griffith 69th place and 14th female in 25.31, plus 2nd VW50.
Master veteran Don Hale knocked a minute off last week’s finishing time in 27.11, as his recovery plan continued, and he was 2nd VM70 in 105th place. Nia Lister had an excellent run in 131st and 3rd VW35 in 28.07, Helen Hannam clocking 28.13, with master veteran Mark Mason 147th and 4th VM70 in 29.20.
