Goals from Aimee Redfern and Anais Bathily saw holders Nomads reach the semi-finals of the NEWFA Cup with a 2-1 victory over Llangefni Town at The Poppies 3G.
Redfern’s third goal of the season – a header from Meg Andrews’ corner – remained the difference for the majority of the match, but Bathily latched onto Alisha Whitehead-Hughes’ flick-on and sent a deft lob into the back of the net to make it two.
Ffion Owen pulled a goal back for Llangefni, but it was too late for the visitors to turn the tide.
Cefni’s goal machine Jess Jones was heavily marked throughout and experienced a rare scoreless afternoon.
Nomads welcomed back captain Elana Harley from injury. She had a steady 45 minutes before being replaced for the second half.
Quay manager Jordan Parry felt his team were not at their best, but was pleased to get through to the next stage.
Parry also acknowledged his side’s transition this summer and the importance of squad depth for the season ahead.
New signings Ellie Jones and Llywela Edwards scored two goals apiece in a convincing victory for Genero North visitors Felinheli over last season’s NEWFA Challenge Cup runners-up Airbus, who now operate in tier 3.
Hana Wellings and captain Fflur Williams added singles for the visitors, while Laura Pratt supplied the sole Wingmakers net-finder.
Menna Evans came on as a second half substitute and knocked in four goals for a Bangor side which ran up double figures.
Last season’s Genero Adran North Young Player of the Year Evans found the net after 50, 54, 64 and 82 minutes.
Ella Jones pocketed a first half hat-trick, while Mia Roberts, Ashleigh Jones, Seren Macdonald, Cadi Jones and Erin Burns added one each.
Victory for Denbigh in their opening Betty Pickering Group clash, Bethany Kell with a brace and Paige Morris also on target.
Elan Evans replied for the Cofis.
More goals galore from Henllan with Beth Roberts and Lleucu Williams grabbing hat-tricks, Abby Cattell adding a pair and Lia Evans also made the scoresheet.
Roberts is now joint top-scorer in North Wales senior women’s football with 12 goals.
Roberts scored after just five minutes, Williams doubled the lead on 10 and Cattell made it three from a Mabli Fitzgerald cross.close to half time.
Cattell bagged her sixth goal of the season after sublime one-touch football by Williams and Roberts two minutes into the second half.
Williams made it five with a stunning shot from distance before Roberts also completed a double for 6-0.
Rhian Edwards set up Roberts for her hat trick and 12th goal of the season for the 16 year old,
Williams made it a personal treble on 81 with a superb free kick into the top corner.
In the last minute, Gwenno Williams crossed for Lia Evans to score number nine.
It was Henllan’s first clean sheet of the season, keeper Siwan Williams dealing well with everything Amlwch had, with Magi Pierce, Ella Allen and Elin Griffiths excellent in defence and special mention to Siwan Lloyd who had a very good game, completing her first 90 minutes since signing this summer.
