Dion Jones was crowned individual champion at the Colwyn and Llandudno Bowling League’s Presidents Day.
The popular Jones had last won the competition 16 years ago, so to follow up that success with another at his home green of Penmaenmawr made the achievement extra memorable.
This year’s league President is Mr Keith Williams of Penmaenmawr Bowling Club. Keith, who has been a member of the club since 1981, welcomed all players and team representatives on what was another rainy afternoon.
Despite the weather there was a great atmosphere at the club and all 8 finalists played well in difficult conditions.
In the quarter finals the results were Simon Jones 21-14 Kenton Shaw, Peter Abrahams 21 -10 John Probyn, Glyn Jones 21-19 Elfyn Jones and Dion Jones 21-18 Gareth Williams.
In the semis, Simon beat Peter 21-19 and Glyn lost to Dion 7-21.
The rain abated for the final, Dion eventually defeating Simon 21-15.
Presentations then took place for the season’s competitions as follows:
